My theory regarding the Cahills VS Vespers Saga
SPOILER ALERT!

WARNING! The following post may have spoilers you may not want to see regarding the puzzles, storyline and online missions. You have been warned.... Very Happy

I have just finished the extreme mission today after obtaining the card pack from my trusted Cahill agents (aka. The local bookstore). After reviewing the information from Vespers Rising, The Medusa Plot, the missions, the cards and even the puzzle answers, I've thought about how they all fit in the big picture and here is what i think is happening so far.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Previously in the Clue Hunt, the Clues were usually based on the periodic table of elements, some everyday ingredients and some really weird stuff. Now in this current series, the focus seems to be on astronomy. Why do i say that? Well, take a look at some of the references below.

1. Astrid is not just a German name. It is the name if a certain asteroid. Also, the answer for card 307: The Khan's Gift was Astrid. The name may have more significance than just being Atticis' mum.

2. Voynich, the answer for Card 303: The Magnifying Glass actually refers to the Voynich Manuscript, a manuscript that till today, the language it is wrritten in has not been cracked. The interesting thing to note is that is has entire sections of astronomical and cosmological info, such as star charts.

3. Archimedes, answer for card 315: Treasure Chamber. Although he's most famous as an early physicist, he's actually and early astronomer as well.

4. de Virga, mentioned at the end of The Medusa Plot by Vesper One. Not only does Vesper One want any old valuable piece, he's asking for the de Virga Map, an early world map made by Albertinus de Virga, a 15th century guy from Venice.

5. The Armillary Sphere, found at the end of The Marco Polo Heist and surrendered to the Vespers. Not only is it a nice golden thing to look at, it was used in early astronomy and according to the mission, part of something larger since the base was meant to fit in something.

6. Picture formed by back of Marco Polo Heist Cards and Card 266: Vesper Enforcer. Forms a detailed astronomy chart.

7. Gideon's Ring. Has what seems like six phases of the moon on it.

Where does this leave this theory? Well, I think that both The Armillary Sphere and Gideons's Ring are parts of an ancient device of which is purpose maybe is to align some planets or stars in the cosmos and cause global disasters. Gideon's ring could be the final piece of the puzzle which actually activates the device, thats why its so important. Things like the Medusa Shield and the de Virga Map will just lead to the parts of the device. Note that all these events and historical artifacts date back to 1507 and beyond.

thoughts anyone? Very Happy

I just realised something. In the Marco Polo Heist, it said Seven failed his mission. Could it be that the Council of Six was once the Council of Seven?

If it was the Council of Seven, wouldnt someone have replaced him by now? Also the Vesper documents would have mentioned the role of Vesper Seven if there was one. Maybe he's just a Vesper agent lucky enough to get the number. Or maybe he's actually James Bond, agent 007. Very Happy

So the third group, which Astrid's from, might have something to do with this?

@6: People are saying the card backs actually form Gideon's ring. It's very cool either way.

He failed. Maybe no Council Member had failed before. You fail, you're off the squad.

Hmm... Maybe Astrid's group could be like the guardians of the ancient device. Like how the Cahills were sort of the guardians of the Clues. Or maybe the group could be a Cahill-Vesper hybrid, like how the Madrigals are Cahills are not really part of the four family branches.

I never actually thought of the back of the cards including Gideon's ring. Nice idea. Makes a lot of sense since the middle of the partially formed picture looks circular as well.

A for Vesper Seven, well Vesper Six was replaced by his twin after he failed so why would Seven's position be so special that it is left vacant after his demise? Smile

Casper was never Vesper Six. He failed the Switzerland mission so he couldn't get promoted. Which means he wasn't Vesper 6 before.

Oops... My mistake there. I had forgotten about Casper's failure in the land of the Swiss. As for Evan, i support jjcoolj's theory. Seems a little to coincidental that Evan was always there for Amy, stalking her house, knowing about the Vesper phone.... As if it was all planned to infiltrate the Cahills. I hope its just an innocent crush on his dream girl, but you may never know. This series still has a main motto that says 'Trust No One'... Maybe this will be like the killer incident when Evan betrays Amy and the Cahills that really drives the lesson home into Amy and Dan... And who knows, Amy may suddenly like Mr Ian Kabra again and start falling in love but one cant hope for that much cant they? Wink

Star sheet

First off, why is one of the words to enter this comment cubed!(I'm not joking) When you combine the star sheet pieces(back of cards) there is a section of morse code and a section of number substitution code. The morse code says john wilkes booth was v and the number code says leonardo da vinci

Nice one!! This is fantastic news! Now we may know for certain who Vesper One is and maybe even the culprit behind Astrid's murder. He was also was in Venice in the Extreme Mission, meaning his location was close enough to affect the events in the Medusa Plot. Very Happy

the dead of night by peter lerangis

Quote:
The worldwide bestselling continues with a brand-new adventure... and an even deadlier challenge.

The Vespers have crossed a line. Amy and Dan were devastated when the Vespers kidnapped seven Cahills around the world, holding them hostage until Amy and Dan delivered an impossible ransom. But at least the hostages were Cahills—members of the world's most powerful family, trained to face disaster.

But now the Vespers have kidnapped Atticus, an innocent 11-year-old boy and Dan's only friend. Dan and Amy find themselves in the struggle of their lives. Because if they can't outwit the Vespers, the unthinkable will happen...Atticus will die.

i doubt atticus is really innocent... remeber the f's? maybe astrid was one of them as well as broderick wizard

i also saw this amazing post that could help us all on the message board

Quote:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For those of you who have read The Medusa Plot, you may have noticed several clues to the location of the Cahill kidnappees.
First of all, Fiske, in the containment cell, theorizes that because he was the first to arrive, he must have been the closest to their present location. If you draw a circle around Napa Valley (where Fiske was kidnapped) that has a radius equal to one-half the distance from Napa Valley and Ponce, Puerto Rico (where Reagan was kidnapped), then draw another circle around Ponce with a radius equal to one-half the distance from Ponce to London (where Natalie was kidnapped), a small section of the American Southwest is contained in both circles.

Incidentally, there are only two places in this area with Cahill connections:
San Antonio, Texas - home of Janus author agent Rick Riordan, where he lives with his wife and two sons
Dallas, Texas - hometown of non-Cahill Janus agent Broderick Wizard, father of Jonah Wizard and husband of Cora Wizard; suspected Vesper

Remember that video feed that the Vespers sent the Cahills in which Nellie is shot? Sinead Starling was able to pick up the text of the label on the inside of one the Vespers' clothing: MODA-MODA. Research has produced one major result: Moda Fabrics, based in none other than Dallas, Texas.

cool huh? this idea came from agentdragon28
