I don't think Beth is contaminated or sick...just injured by flying debris.
She is bleeding in that other pic I posted as well as this one:

Back to the music...I think its being used to attract a different demographic then what's on these boards if you go by the amount of hate it vs. like it votes. My guess would be couples, females, etc...the more interest, the better the movie will do (financially).
This TV commercial is a "softer" look with more emotional dialogue such as Rob desperately looking for Beth, Lily telling Rob, she is going with him (presumably to find Beth), etc.
Personally the musical score reminds me of some recent war movies such as "Flags of our Fathers", "Band of Brothers" (ok, TV miniseries), "Saving Private Ryan", etc.

wouldnt be the first movie to have the fx changed between the trailer being made and the movie. Usually just preliminary effects are used in trailers while the real stuff is put in and other stuff tweaked when the final cut of the movie is made

Seems odd to promote one movie with a different movie's soundtrack, but they do sound like a match.
I went back and noticed that Jamie lists Sunshine as one of her fave movies on her Myspace page.
It's actually not as uncommon as you'd think. In fact, Sunshine did the exact same thing. They used the song Summer Overture (the main theme from Requiem for a Dream) by Clint Mansell and the Kronos Quartet in their trailers:

Technically yes, but it's feasible that the military use 'bite' as a catch all term.

[Spec] p.s.- the music was epic. I actually loved the music, but I just hope there won't be any in the movie [with the exception of the party].
But the part where Rob says, "We're going to go after him," sparks up a memory of a past thread about the commercial at Carmike Cinema where one of the "tag lines" was "Who would you save?"
Perhaps Rob has to make a choice between saving "J.J." [his brother] or "Beth" [his love]

mini-posters. I was in chinatown (NYC) last night and there was an abandoned old building covered in these mini-cloverfield-posters with the words "Whatever it is, it's winning." They were about 2x1...I was only able to take 2...they were taped down pretty good.

I think it looks a bit smaller actually
It's nearer though, it's in front of the Woolworth now, it used to be behind it.
