[META]The Cloverfield - What would you have been doing? thing? online right now..how would you spend the time you've spent on this? These trailers/teasers/commercials etc... are taking us to such profound levels of ingenuity with their subliminal trickery and inspired general brilliance i'm finding it hard to concentrate on more important things in my life.
Like the things that matter to me and the things i could be doing that are actually worthwhile. It's like I know I'm never going to get these hours back so I'd rather be typing about something I don't know about.
And if Stanley Kubrick was still going i doubt even he could hold a candle to Matt Reeves - who just oozes sheer mystery of depth every single time he verbalises with an interviewer. Remember that never has a monster in a movie possibly been so big before.
So just a thought, when the film comes out, and let's be crazy and suggest for half a silly-second that the big monster is a LET DOWN* (coz let's face it if you're not going to spend your money on characterisation, dialogue or the fact this pic's stylishly original)...and you wish you could get these 'lost' hours in your life back. How would you spend them? How would you prefer to spend these many hours you've wasted in your life since the viral stuff started? How would you replenish those moments?
Just interested as i've spent so long mentally unscrewing all the bolts of greatness that Abrams et al...has held this viral masterpiece up in that i wished i'd spent my time doing something more worthwhile. Even checking out the spice girls reunion forums i've been reading though, I can see the suffering of days devoured by hype like this cloverfield thing is sure a mystery especially as it may even be set before the future etc...
*a great radiohead song.
edit to add tag (please tag your posts, almost all of the time it will be either [SPEC], [META], or possibly [HUMOR]...very occasionally we get the actual [UPDATE]) and to clarify subject description ~rose
Edit - clarified title - MikeyJ

I'd spend all my time doing the countless hours of schoolwork I've lost cause of that jackass Abrams.
(I was listening to radiohead when i read that)

Well, ironically enough, I'd be finishing the first collection of Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I bought and read the second collection simply because there was more reading material than the first for the same price. That, and Bleak House by Charles Dickens, especially after seeing the incredible adaptation with Gillian Anderson on PBS last year.

This obvious condescention is a bit funny.
My interest and speculations on Cloverfield only take up 100% of my focus very little of the time. Much of the video tinkering, graphical work, and even the surfing around dovetails with other things I am doing. That's the difference between something fitting into your life, and being your life. If there wasn't Cloverfield, I'd have found something else to involve in my various tinkerings and interests. I've still spent more time in my life finding or taking images of cars and rendering them down into nice wallpapers than I have on Cloverfield. I'm sure I've spent more cumulative time in Yahoo Chat in the past than I have on this - and I think I really got more out of this. The only 'wish' I have for the time spent is that it could have been without the disruption of trolls and other pedantic twits who find their only value in being hated, because apparently they lack the character to even be noticed otherwise.

I'd be watching porn instead of checking this board.
At least my vibrator is happy.

Re: The Cloverfield thing? online right now Its funny you should bring this subect up...
I was thinking age's ago, perhaps should i create a new
thread to discuss...
(Humour) "What I might of accomplished if...ARG: Cloverfield,
had never existed, and how i might of used that time to improve myself."
But then i thought, what the hell...
If it was not for this crazy diversion, then some other diversion would
of sufficed...
P.S. I Like Diversions...

Think of all the time you spent here instead of smoking crack and playing with hookers.
Damn you, J.J.!!!

Hm...
I haven't spent much time on this thing, just a handful of hours I probably would have used to finish the latest Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game for DS. Or picking up extra hours at work so I can get Rock Band, which I hope to do soon to distract me with something cool until Cloverfield does come out.
Nevertheless, even if the movie is lame, I don't think this is a waste. I had fun doing it- that's all that matters.

Actually, I was at the cusp of discovering a way to replenish the Earth's atmosphere and eliminate global warming, all with just a small piece of copper tubing, a box of pasta, and a ferret named Ralph.
Oh well, what's one more month of melting polar ice caps........

I have my wooden spoon in so many pots, I don't think it would be much different if I didn't have Cloverfield to obsess over. I'd just fill that spot with something else equally as useless and non-productive.
It's the way it is I guess.
