[PRESS] The Sunday Times feature on Cloverfield

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article3086913.ece

Quote:
Over the next few weeks, as internet excitement ramped up, even the title of the film remained a mystery. Although Variety had reported that it was Cloverfield, that seemed weirdly dissonant with the apparent subject matter of the film: an attack on New York by something huge and destructive, possibly an enormous lion.

AHAHAHAHA. But other than that it's a good write-up. And also marks the beginning of Cloverfield coverage in UK and Ireland where barely anyone has heard of it.

Edit - beautifully tagged, thank you. Removed the OOG one as it's related to Cloverfield directly. But by tagging you're on my favourite persons list Smile - MikeyJ

Re: [OOG][PRESS] The Sunday Times feature on Cloverfield

great find.

I think that's the best summarization of the past few months that I've heard so far.

Quote:

"We wanted this to be as if someone found a Handycam, took out the tape and put it in the player to watch it," Reeves told the web- site ShockTillYouDrop.com. "What you're watching is a home movie that then turns into something else. The other thing I think is very exciting is that this monster is huge, and you see everything. You see it, in a way, as if you're shooting it with a Handycam."

so the scene we see in the 2nd commercial [the overview of the city "pre-destroyed"] won't be shown in the actual movie... good to know/be confirmed

This is basically what I wanted. I didn't want switching from handycam to professional footage, that would definitely kill the mood for me. I want the film to turn on with the "site designate" stuff and then switches to the handycam, ending with the handycam dying of a low battery.

"I saw it," someone else shouts. "It's a lion! It's huge!" he seems to scream.

Very Happy That is sooooo funny...

If the Sunday Times thinks its a lion, then it must be. Wink

Time to re-think...NOT

Apart from that,a good review.

I actually have the newspaper lying on my desk right now. I was a bit surprised when I saw the all too familiar Cloverfield picture on the front page of the "Arts & Books" section...

But I'm SURE there's no clues to be seen there, no matter how out-of-place the article is...

BTW, I found another article from yesterday that isn't as accurate. Odd how they reported it two days in a row...

The weird thing about the article that near the end it actually quotes "It's alive". It's like the article was written by more than one person

I was so excited about it, I started telling complete strangers about it whilst I was shopping this morning Very Happy

eranmane - I noticed that - it was it the Times magazine yesterday & on the front page of the Arts section today - kinda odd & very sudden. Maybe it's a quiet news time??
