I think someone posted earlier that the monster's speach bubble says "01-18-08" in sanskrit.

I think if this is the design for after the premiere so we dont know what the mounter looks like until 1 18 08 and after that i guess they will advertise like any other monster movie. Thats why we have this cool toy. And i would love to have this in my Kaiju toy collection.

I think this is definitely the monster now, well done to the Waterbear theorists!
Seems like it could be an enormous, ancient species of tardigrade that's been woken from hibernation...
The tail is two feet fused together like some species have (explains the claws), and the pincer things are developed feelers.
I'm surprised they've gone for a 'suitimation' bipedal look, but it's obviously inspired by all the Japanese ones out there.

Has this been deemed fake yet?
I haven't been able to read the keep up.

It's been deemed fake by several people, but I haven't seen any proof either way yet. I'm going with legit.

Just wanted to say that the monsters' legs at least seem to be inspired by the tardigrade.

It depends largely on whether or not you think the style guide has both screwed up the 1-18-08 (writing it as 1-18-08 instead of 01-18-08 ) the Cloverfield logo (which has been reported as being faulty in its design) and would have a full-blown illustration of the monster right there out in the open where someone with a scanner could just post it onto a message board, and said posting would garner no reaction from Paramount whatsoever.

It's gonna look cool what ever it's roughly based on...except for maybe a Sumo Penis.

If the Puppet Masters do read these threads they must laugh themselves silly sometimes.

Yep, that's the most obvious bit. I've seen a picture of one with little stalks coming from its knees too, can't find it now.
