THAT IS NOT THE CLOVERFIELD MONSTER.

IT IS A MONSTER FROM THE "ULTRAMAN NEXUS" SERIES, CALLED "BUGBUZEN."

This is the only video of the beastie I could find online.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=o0GIQXsqFss

It's Bugbuzen's evolved form, Bugbuzen Blade (or "Blude" as spelled here. Wacky Japanese). Note the only differences are the blade arms and extra spikes, but that pic at the start of the convo is just fanart of Bugbuzen's original form.

Good find.

Indeed. Final Nail in the coffin. It's a relief too. Confused

And you know what?

Seeing it "live-action"......

It looked pretty lame. Neutral

Yeah. Although imaging it in Cloverfield from the perspective of the camera on the ground, it could have been cool. Still a bit curious as to why the monster in the video has claw like arms where as the OP has more Godzilla arms. The artist probably just made some changes to fit in with CF.

If/when the real monster image comes out and is posted here though, please mark it as spoiler.

[HOAX][BOGUS][GAMEJACK][TROLL]
don't be so anxious to believe

Thank you!
I just couldn't believe this was correct. The tail dragging beast just didn't look right at all.

While we are talking about how to label the thread, how about:
[HOAX][BOGUS][GAMEJACK][TROLL]

I vote for the [D-BAG] tag personally.

another working artist here:
Noticing the attention any art gets for Cloverfield, concept or otherwise, I've thought Cloverfield to be a great opportunity to get more of my own work circulated and noticed (should I find the time). You guys have confirmed that idea. I'm sure I'm not the first artist to consider it, nor the last.

On top of the style and design gafs noted, you must remember that whether a promotion project is in-house or out, the same non-disclosure agreements that are circulated and signed for people working in the prepro (or on set) are also signed by people working on any marketting materials that would contain sensitive info. Artists don't work in such situations anonymous to their employers. Heads would roll.

If gullibility equates to excitement, I'd say Cloverfield is doing pretty good.

Great view on that, and yes- you should jump on the concept art before they reveal the creature. When you DO make your concept, my advice: DON'T TELL ANYONE IT'S FAN ART. Let us delve into it, let us lift it to the surface and expose it as a possible truth. Then, when it's been given enough attention, tell us it's just fan art. best way for exposure.

If you read the block of text you quoted, you'll find your answer:

The video is of the final form of the monster, the one that matches the OP exactly he couldn't find a clip of.

Well that wraps that up then, nice find Very Happy
There is a thumbnail on google images which looks to match the right form, but the hosting site is down for the full picture.

Now it's back to wondering what the hell this monster is.

I really hope it's not real. I mean, why use CGI when they could easily do this creature with a man in a costume?

Firstly I don't think they could find a man big enough.
Secondly, a lot of CGI monsters are done by men in MoCap costumes, like the latest King Kong for example.
Personally I'm not a fan of it being bipedal, it does come off a bit cheesy.
Maybe it crawls too?

The monster is a theropod
