Erm, that's all I can think of.

Uh... No.

Here's everything that ever happened movie-wise on 1/18:

http://www.imdb.com/BusinessThisDay?day=18&month=January

And I got a 15 out of 20. Sad

Uh, I think the date they were referring to was Halloween itself, which if memory serves the original movie of that name did come out on that date.

You didn't click on the word "No", did you?

You are right, but it covered the opening week at least.
The premier for Cloverfield won't be on 1-18-08 anyway Laughing

So what was the point about the subsequent January 18th date info?

Edit: I see that October 25th, 1978 was a Wednesday. Halloween was the following Tuesday. That would explain why they didn't release it on October 31st. Interesting that they chose to make it the more unusual Wednesday release, instead of the normal Friday. I guess they wanted to give people a chance to see it before the weekend's parties and of course before the holiday itself.

Halloween may have been an influence for them in making this movie. Perhaps JJ and Co think Cloverfield will do for big monster movies, what Halloween did for horror movies at the time. Halloween was filmed on a very low-budget, yet completely re-defined a genre. They might view themselves as creating the big monster destroys city equivalent.

Yes there's that too.

That was the Kansas City premier, according to wiki, with other cities a few days later.

ROUND 3 IS UP

I got 13 out of 20 in 2 minutes.

Lots of questions about natural disasters, giant sharks and other monster movies. And they spelt Loch Ness wrong.

Did they mess up the 260 foot giant shark?

The largest shark that ever existed was Carcharocles megalodon, and at the most generous estimates scientists now place it at around 60+ feet. So what the hell are they talking about?

So ,what do you get when you mix The Host, the Loch Ness Monster, fire in the sky, a gigantic shark, oil spills, a handful of slasher horrors, and a few natural disasters?

Cloverfield, of course.

Cool

I didn't load an instance of the widget that would allow me to skew the official scoreboard.
