Thinking about it again I'll change my answer to something that hasn't been mentioned.

Rush
Moving Pictures (1981)
The Camera Eye

The End - From the RoadRunner United CD

&

Zero-Sum - From NIN's Year Zero

I second Zero-Sum and a lot of other songs by NIN would be awesome, too.
Just Like You Imagined, for one. Simply because of the intensity of it.

 Broadway Musical

I see a big budget B'way show with the following tunes
(Apologies if the chronology is wrong)

Act 1
Surprise Rob (sung by Party Guests)
Rob's Awesome (The "Rob's Awesome" Girl)
My Main Dude (Hud)
Roar (Grumpypants)
I Saw it From the Roof (Party Guests)
It's a Lion, It's Huge (The Idiot on the Street)
Run, Run, Run (The Slusho 6 . . .5 . . . 4 . . . oh carp)
How It All Went Down (Act One Finale) (Company)

Act 2
Beth, Where Are You? (Rob)
It's Winning (Soldiers)
Nothing You Can Do (Expanded Vesion)(Medics)
Something Deep Inside (Marlena)
What Was That/ Run, Run, Run (Reprise) (The Slusho X)
The Broken Bridge (Company)

Funny thing is, my friends and I were actually talking about writing the script for a Cloverfield musical.
I made a poster of Rob air-guitaring under a sign that says "Cloverfield: The Musical", which is what got them talking about it. The way we're going to write it is that Act One is the viral campaign, and Act Two is the actual movie.
We only have ideas for a few musical numbers:
"There Is Life Outside Your Apartment" (Avenue Q) preformed bu Hud and Hawk after Rob makes his MySpace post about job searching.
"Viva La Fiesta" (S Club 7) preformed by the Slusho 7 at Rob's party.
and "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" as a possible finale, preformed by the company.
Any other ideas?

I love Avenue Q! how about putting No one mourns the wicked-Wicked, theres a twist, the jamie-teddy-marlena love triangle:

Teddy(lover) singing to Marlena:
Have another drink, my dark-eyed beauty
I've got one more night left, here in town
So have another drink of green elixir(omg slusho!)
And we'll have ourselves a little mixer
Have another swallow, little lady,
And follow me down...

Narrator(glinda):
(spoken) And of course, from the moment she(mr. grumpypants) was born,
she was - well - different

hazmat guy #1(Nanny):
It's coming

hazmat #2(Frex):
Now?

hazmat guy #1(Nanny):
The baby's coming

hazmat guy #2(Frex):
And how!

hazmat guy #1(Nanny) AND hazmat guy #2(Frex):
I see a nose
I see a curl
It's a healthy, perfect,
Lovely, little -

May I suggest a rewrite of the libretto? No offense or anything intended, I love some of the names of those songs, and some of the ideas, but it needs...tweaking. In my opinion.

Cloverfield: The Musical
Music by Stephen Sondheim (let's face it, this has to be dark and broody, and he's the best man for the job)
Lyrics by UnFiction
Book by Stephen Sondheim and UnFiction

Act 1
The Ballad of Robert Hawkins (Sung by: The Chorus - solo by Army Projectionist (bass - sings "Multiple sightings of case designate Cloverfield..."))
Surprise!! (Company, solos from, in this order - Hud, Marlena, "Rob's Awesome" Girl, Beth, $11 Guy)
My Main Dude (Hud) (LOVE THIS IDEA - like, a love song - maybe even have it as a duet with Rob)
The Roar #1 (Instrumental)
I Saw It, Rob (Hawk, Rob + The Chorus)
It's Alive and It's Huge (Company)
It's A Lion and It's Huge (It's Alive and It's Huge Reprise - Redshirt, Hawk, Rob, Lily, Hud, Marlena)
The Middle of the City (Rob, Marlena)
How It All Went Down (Act One Finale) (Hud, Rob, Marlena, Lily (I killed off Hawk because I wanted to), The Chorus for the final, er, chorus)

Act 2
The Roar #2 (Instrumental)
Beth, Where Are You? (Rob)
The Underpass (Rob, Hud, Lily, Marlena)
Run, Run, Run (The Underpass Reprise) (Rob, Hud, Lily, Marlena)
It's Winning (Chorus - solos by Soldiers #1,2 and 3, Rob, Lily, Marlena, Hud)
The Roar #3 (Instrumental)
Nothing You Can Do (Expanded Vesion)(Medics, Rob, Hud, Lily)
Something Deep Inside (Marlena)
Beth (Rob, Hud, Lily)
Beth Reprise (Rob, Hud, Lily, Beth)
The Broken Bridge (Company)
Spun (Helicopter sequence)(Rob, Hud, Beth, Army Personnel)
Eulogy (Rob, Beth)
The Roar #4 (Instrumental + Grumpypants' Voice)
The Ballad of Robert Hawkins Reprise (The Chorus)

I like this idea. Twisted Evil

Dethklok- Awaken

Musta-Krakish,
Musta-Krakish,

The time has come, to awaken him.

I call upon the ancient lords of the underworld,
To bring forth this beast and,

Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Take the land, that must be taken.
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Devour worlds, smite forsaken

Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep,
Break forth from your grave eternally.

I command you to rise, rise, rise, rise,
rise, rise, rise, rise.

I'm the conjurer of demons,
I'm the father of your death.

I bring forth the ancient evil,
I control his every breath.

I instigate your misfortune,
With the birth of killing trolls.

I awaken armageddon,
Feeding on a thousand souls.

Awaken,
Awaken,
Awaken,
Awaken,

[Solo]

Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta),

Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta)
Musta-Krakish, (musta)

Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Take the land, that must be taken.
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Devour worlds, smite forsaken

Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep,
Break forth from your grave eternally.

Weak will die and land will all be burned
Musta-Krakish king and death to worlds.

I command you to
Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise,
Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise,
And awaken.

DETHKLOK RULESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I ws thinkign the same thing. Thats probably why the monster is coming to NYC. Its awakened by the greatest band in the world-DETHKLOK!
But how about Go into the water by DETHKLOK
OR Raining Blood by Slayer(it goes good with any story)
