Guys think about this: Black vs. White, Spy vs. Spy, Luke vs. Darth, They are refernces to CHESS or sides people take.

A chess board is Black Vs White, Spy Vs Spy is White Spy Vs Black Spy, Luke Vs Darth is Good(White) Vs Bad(Black).

I think Reggie is trying to figure out which side Jake or we are on...

 		from his latest blog entry, I think red refers to red knight which seems to be what he's calling caretaker...

OK, this is probably just silly, but with the 'spy vs. spy' part, could he be referring to MAD magazine?
