[SPEC] [PRESS] June 21st article raises eyebrow...
Do we have ourselves an insider?

I was doing some archival research on Cloverfield dated back to when the teaser came out in July through various websites and came across an article dated back to June 21st(at least 2 weeks before the teaser for Cloverfield hit theaters.) Check out the last few words in this direct quote taken from an article on Aint It Cool, a website dedicated to movies:

"It's designed as a fairly small picture, all things considered, and right now, they're working to make sure the script is going to deliver some wild thrills (like an earthquake that levels Manhattan or an oil tanker flipping over by the Statue of Liberty)"

Now, could of been a lucky guess OR I question, How did this author know about an oil tanker flipping over by the Statue of Liberty which ended up being true? Giving the fact that:

1. The teaser was shot before ANY of the actual movie was produced, so, at that time no one knew any details besides the teaser.
2. All of us came to find out about the oil tanker flipping near the SoL just recently, as seen in the new 5 minute Widget clip.

For him to say that back in June, I think we got our hands on an insider at AICN, unless you could come up with something else.

you know, I never did like AICN... but that oil tanker detail interesting...

unfortunately, its hard to use them as source for any information because it's mostly hear-say, and probably a lot of crap...

the premace of the movie was already floating around, a few people had heard of it b4 the teaser's debut, some even knew it as Cloverfield...

Though I doubt it was a mole, even Odette's recent "interview" mentions something of it ... Shocked

Interesting indeed. And although it has nothing to do with the tanker, I saw the preview on June 27th, before Transformers was officially released. It's not hard to imagine someone in "The Biz" had an even earlier screening.

"So what is CLOVERFIELD? Well, word from inside the company is that CLOVERFIELD is a giant monster movie"

He clearly says that he talked to someone in the company. They certainly had a working script at that point with all the major points locked down.

As far as anyone being "inside" at AICN you might as well say the whole thing is. They are the worst schills out there and are probably paid under the table by the film companies to market certain films. They rarely really cut up a film till after its clear everyone hates it. The few they do probably didn't cough up any cash or come through with some free stuff or favors.

Yeah, the signal to noise ratio on AICN is pretty bad, but they do get some information ahead af time. It wouldn't surprise me if someone inside mentioned the tanker, but that's not saying the writer IS the insider. That said, I always take things on AICN with a grain of salt. They've been used as a misinformation source before.

Don't know much about AICN, but they've been right on pretty much everything related to Cloverfield...in addition to this info, back in August, there was an article that when into detail on a sequence in the movie...part of which has been seen in various theatrical trailers and T.V. commericals. The article turned out to be highly accurate:

Also, the only communication to date Abrams had with any news or fan site was AICN back in July debunking the Ethan Haas site.

Fanboy Knowles swings from the nuts of anybody who will pay him attention and make him feel important. He no longer cares if a film is good or not.

Of course, I can't understand what he is trying to say half the time, so maybe I am not the best judge.
