I got one of the song's direct mp3 link but I can't download it, must be the server blocking my access,

and thanks Dennis for the mp3 file, I cant play it in my pc though, what do you guys think? is it the drm(copyright) or the format thats preventing it from playing?

and by the way, I used a web page based wap emulator, does it work like a web proxy? if they ever found out, can they block access from that web page?

I know Dennis doesn't have the "newest" phone in the world. I have a Treo 650, and I get "Sorry your phone does not support this content."

WTF?

Anyone know what kind of settings I'm supposed to have? This is bogus!

Heh.

That's who is sponsoring the Slusho! commercial contest, too.

And, unfortunately, I don't have web access on my phone, so I can't be part of the fun. Oh well....

Edited to add sob story...

I have a Moto RAZR V3i phone.

I played around with a WAP emulator, and was able to browse the site and download the ringtone, but it wasn't able to save the "binary message".

I listened to all the clips on my phone, and there is nothing new there. It is all taken from the Slusho commercial.

Your browser may not render the file, but the data is in fact audio in an MP3 type compression. The file seems to be headerless, or lacks a normal MP3 header. The parser on a phone probably just reads it in a 'raw' fashion which overcomes the lack of a header. I'm still tinkering with Audacity trying to work out what encoding is used, and I've gotten some sound from the file Dennis uploaded, but it's not playing correctly yet. The files could be protected in some other way, I'm not sure.

Ah, my bad. Previously (on a podcast maybe?) you made it sound like you had an older phone with little to no Internet capability. All apologies!

Some audio composition/editing software (SoundForge) allows for a "remote" recorder. This option allows you to record any audio data being processed by the sound card into .wav format.

You can then render/export to an alternate file format for size issues.

No dice for me, either. Can view the site and downloads on my Treo, but I get the "unsupported" message when I click them. :/
