It's identical to the message from before. New number, same message.

after 4th clue?

After I find the 4th clue I click to go to the partner website and am directed to abc's homepage. I know the clue, but any help finding the game... part of the fun is the journey I suppose...

This is interesting: the 7 (channel that lost is on in Australia, I believe) website had the same Pack Sam's Backpack game, but the clue word was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Abaddon
. When entered, you get the same clue. I wonder what the point of two clue words is...

Well, this number we got yesterday. That seems... anticlimactic. But I guess that's a big enough of a hint that decompiling the code breaks the game. I'd suggest we stop it so we don't have another 48 hour wait for something we've already found.

(Either that or start up a [LOST][HACKING] thread or something)

To recap:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Season 1 clue - Driveshaft
Season two clue - Pearl
Season three clue - Rocking Chair
Season Four clue - Oceanic Hotline 888-548-0034

I guess we finally learned where the code "MATTHEW" went. Too bad that game was released 24 hours too early.

The phone number is the same exact message as before, but this time has options that you can press. God, her voice is creepy...

Am i the only one who didn't understand what the heck the video was about? Also, after you find these clues, is the game over for tonight? Did i miss anything??

I think they took the game down for some reason. I don't think it's bad up yet... it might be though, I'm not sure. Anyway, we had to pack Sam's backpack. Once we did it sucessfully we were given a clue word. It's...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Matthew

Definitely agreed. It seems like a waste of time, what we did tonight, and it's all because we hacked the site and knew what we were going to get ahead of time. All that waiting, for pretty much nothing.

That's because the stupid hackers on this site ruined the game for everyone. It would've been much more fun if no one hacked the game. You guys ruined todays big surprise, and it's completely wrong. Don't you dare set up a thread for hacking the website. Seriously, is this game that hard that you must hack it then ruin it for others who want to enjoy the freakin' experience of this ARG? What is wrong with you people?

I just want to say, in defense of the people on this thread who hacked the site, they aren't the only ones. I've read about those hacks on all the big websites covering this. Maybe everyone will learn their lessons after this, hopefully.

Most of these args aren't time-dependant with all Flash assets... people decompile to get the images, it's part of what a lot of the games are about.

Personally, I think that's digging a little too far into things, since Flash by it's nature is interactive and will show you what you need when you need it (unlike, say "Here's just a picture. Go nuts!" and you get into Steganography).

The reason I suggest the hackers go start their own thread is because I don't know if it is classed as breaking the Rules or not to decompile the SWF, and for some people it's the fun part. So go hack it somewhere else, let us playing the game as it's made to be played (and none of this "If it was so wrong they'd code it smarter so we couldn't!" business, that doesn't really hold water because they're not giving you ANY hint that there are clues in the SWF) enjoy it as it unfolds.

I think this is probably irrelevant - but it is a weird coincidence in any event. I first called the Oceanic Hotline without putting a 1 in front of the number - just 888-548-0034 - and got to Joybubble's Stories and Stuff (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joybubbles). The weird thing is that the long, rambling story he tells is about a friend of his named Penelope and her stillborn daughter Claire.
