You don't get it , the images and websites WERE THERE since the beginning and anybody who looked at the find815 site the first hours it was up could see them as well as others that appeared later in Sam's laptop browser , but what the guy/girl is doing is claiming this : http://www.baliholidayfun.com/ to be a legit new website and trying to confirm it's legitimacy by "hiding" a clue in it ... mainly links to the legitimate find815 that are already known to "insider" people (you may also call us hackers :p) but which are not published and therefore unknown to the main player .

Oh, I'm pretty sure I get it Wink

I understand that guy could have found it. But he couldn't have uploaded it there. Which, at this point, leaves us with the same question - what are these steg images doing there in the first place? Both you and I agree that they do seem very odd and out-of-place for this game thing, yes? So, I think both you and I would like to think it's a gamejack, but we can't overlook the fact that they ended up on that server somehow.

Oh, and, btw, I'm pretty sure that baliwhatever.com is a gamejack anyway, just because of the whois (points to catherwood's post).

I meant upload to baliwhatever.com which I considered a gamejack ... the images he points to were already part of the find815 website and many knew them , the websites didn't exist though , I gave two examples : findoutpedia.com and slaveshipsearch.com both didn't exist (actually they were parked by godaddy) until just a week ago , while they were cited in sam's laptop browser ... ANYONE could've bought them and uploaded his own files to them the same could've happen with the baliwhatever website , the site is clearly cited in a legitimate site but his owner could be non legit .

*nod* That's pretty much the definition of "gamejack". So, yeah, I'm gonna go with that for the bali stuff Very Happy

P.S. I guess I am responsible for the confusion here - I think it could have been avoided if I realized sooner that bali was going to be a "website" on Sam's laptop. So, for me right now, it's: bali in find815 = not strange; baliwhatever.com = gamejack; steg images on find815 = very odd.

Well, the stegged stuff may be inserted for the ones that were in TLE, or people of the same attitude... searching stuff and all where no one would find something.

well it seems that's all wrong... new email refers to the website - it's entirely ingame. Which means emailing the gmail address located on the site gives the valid autoresponder with the stegosaurus image, morse reference, and puzzle.
The carpe diem in chat is unconnected so unproven as valid.

Not to rain on my ARG elders, but a jacker cold have gotten into the website filesystem before it was closed off and they could have THEN parked at go-daddy. My problem is why would you wait until the game is underway and some of the sites have come out along the time-line would you THEN get the website if you're the PM.

So either it was a jacker who got a glimpse at that e-mail, or the PMs don't know who they're up against (Save My Husband 2: the Electric Bugaloo Laughing )

except, again, the content is still hosted on Find815.com - a server controlled by the PMs. If it's malicious/invalid jacked content, you'd expect the PMs to remedy that ASAP. The longer it remains, the more I'm inclined to believe it isn't a gamejack; that or the PMs just don't care, and that says a lot about the game itself. Confused

Assuming no one hacked their server and uploaded the steg images - wow, that is so odd, if not out right... stupid. This guy Sam gets an e-mail from his friend that directs him to another site that sends him an e-mail telling him to basically desteg an image on his own site?? At this point, the bali site can still be a gamejack, and the e-mail can still be a gamejack, but wtf are those images doing inside a find815 directory? Triple Confused

well, find815 is't his site, it's the game site... but that it's still odd - the email is essentially directing Sam to a file on a meta site he shouldn't know exists.
unless somehow the puzzle itself is meta, and sam wold never really 'get' the auto-responder. *shrug* it's all too confusing at this point. I'm sure we'll get more as the story progresses, either dealing with it, or ignoring it.

Ok guys, maybe not a clue per se, but when you email the maxwell group, we get the following:
Quote:

Thank you for your email enquiring about the James Clerk Maxwell Foundation and your very kind offer of a donation. Our contacts with whom we are in constant contact are:-
1. The Clerk Maxwell Cancer Research Fund - researching the effects of electromagnetic radiation in the diagnosis and treatment of Cancer.
2. The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) - formed by Edinburgh and Heriot Watt Universities who are our tenants at Maxwell's birthplace. Delegates from around the world attend symposia and workshops here.
We shall be delighted to show you the birthplace and our museum in the birthplace if you are in Edinburgh.

Kudos go to Vanessa of the Find815 blog chat.

That's ridiculous.

A minimum of Google time will confirm that The James Clerk Maxwell Foundation, the Clerk Maxwell Cancer Research Fund, The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, and the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh are ALL real entities with no connection to Lost, ABC, JJAbrams, Dharma, Widmore, Apollo, or Mama Cass.

What is going on with this game?

Hazzah! I'm back, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks to my good buddy Gluphokquen Gunih (a fellow user on here) for helping me out with that horrible circuit puzzle. My god, that was hard.

danteIL: the Bali site and the Stego picture are all in game. They aren't gamejacks or anything. The bali site is found on an email on find815.com, and the stego picture is found by analysing the morse code in one of the voice messages and it's also in the find 815 servers.

The email that cassarenas posted should be taken with a grain of salt until it can be verified. no offense to cassarenas, but a chat room isn't a good source for infomation. that includes the "carpe deim" thing

maybe it's just because i'm a little behind and am just now catching up. But this bali/steg business seems pretty direct. He got an email saying "Go ask Alice," who replies with a wack ass email, which gives us a couple links. I don't see what the problem is here.

However, I do call into question this: If tracey sent sam the email saying he should talk to a company which may be in cahoots, then should sam be so ready to trust tracey? why did she direct him to these people? she didn't have the Sinister Voice Of Doom on the phone, and all her emails seem to be pretty helpful -- but still, it seems sort of sketchy.

I have this sort of theory which I'm attempting to piece together about Tracey working fFor Maxwell, somehow, but it doesn't quite work out. I do however Have a different theory. Did you did notice The Maxwell Group is a subsidiary of Widmore? I suggest Maxwell/Widmore (as a tool of the hanso fFoundation) conscripted the ship. However, Penelope Widmore, using her pull within the Widmore Company, fFed Sam the tips to fFind his girl. Penelope did this with the goal of having Sam make contact with Desmond. I like the idea of the ship at the end of season 3 being the Christiane, but that's probably not the case.

I hope people are still paying attention to find815. It's almost over...

Anyway, the stego code has been solved!

http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Find_815_clues/January_21

Quote:
The password for the OPENSTEGO stegosaurus picture from January 17 was discovered. After the video where the chart plotter was successfully hacked, an image of arrows and number signs briefly appears, which can be used in conjunction with the braille message from January 18. The number signs signify the braille equivalent of numbers, and the arrows can be used to determine letter case, resulting in the password X4x98adf09 (using Braille AOE Font at dafont.com). When extracting the stegosaurus file with the OpenStego software and entering the password, the following binary file results:
"

00110101 00110110 00100000 00110011 00110010 00100000 00110110 00111000 00100000 00110110 01100011 00100000 00110110 00110010 00100000 00110110 00111001 00100000 00110100 00110010 00100000 00110100 01100001 00100000 00110100 00111001 00100000 00110100 00110101 00100000 00110110 00111000 00100000 00110110 01100011 00100000 00110101 00111001 00100000 00110101 00111000 00100000 00110100 01100001 00100000 00110110 01100010 00100000 00110100 00111001 00100000 00110100 00110110 00100000 00110101 00110010 00100000 00110110 01100110 00100000 00110101 01100001 00100000 00110101 00110011 00100000 00110100 00110010 00100000 00110100 01100100 00100000 00110101 01100001 00100000 00110101 00110111 00100000 00110100 00110110 00100000 00110111 00111001 00100000 00110110 00110010 00100000 00110110 00111001 00100000 00110110 00110100 00100000 00110110 01100010 00100000 00110100 00111001 00100000 00110100 00110101 00100000 00110100 00110110 00100000 00110111 01100001 00100000 00110110 00110100 00100000 00110100 00111000 00100000 00110100 01100001 00100000 00110111 00110110 00100000 00110110 00110010 00100000 00110110 01100100 00100000 00110011 00111001 00100000 00110111 00110100 00100000 00110101 01100001 00100000 00110101 00111000 00100000 00110100 00111001 00100000 00110011 01100100
"

The binary translates to a string of hexadecimal code:
"

56 32 68 6c 62 69 42 4a 49 45 68 6c 59 58 4a 6b 49 46 52 6f 5a 53 42 4d 5a 57 46 79 62 69 64 6b 49 45 46 7a 64 48 4a 76 62 6d 39 74 5a 58 49 3d
"

The hexadecimal code translates to a string of Base64 code:
" V2hlbiBJIEhlYXJkIFRoZSBMZWFybidkIEFzdHJvbm9tZXI="

The Base64 code translates to:
"When I Heard The Learn'd Astronomer"

It is the title of a Walt Whitman poem, When I heard the Learn'd Astronomer:

"When I heard the learn'd astronomer

When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me

When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them

When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,

How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick

Till rising and gliding out, I wander'd off by myself,

In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,

Look'd up in perfect silence at the stars"
