CLOVERFIELD Finally Trademarked
Well, sort of...

FWIW, I checked the trademark site ( www.uspto.gov ) and found that Paramount has finally filed three trademark claims associated with Cloverfield. There isn't one for the movie title itself, but rather for potential merchandise and swag associated with it. The three trademarks cover:

    1. Plush toys, action figures, balloons, snow globes, etc.
    2. T-shirts, sweatshirts, pajamas, hats, Halloween masks, etc.
    3. Postcards, pens, pencils, notepads, gift wrapping paper, etc.

The three claims were filed on December 10th.

well now we now they might make the monster into a toy, or they are just going to sell statues of liberty with its head cut off. Thats if they never reveal the monster which would probably piss alot of people off

Matt Reeves ( I think ) said in an interview there would be a model of the monster available, but I don't think he wasn't talking about action figures or plush toys.

and a 3 foot tall plush MGP.

hands down, if there's a monster figurine, iti's going in my cube. And when the software developers come over to bitch about the bug I just logged, I will wave it at them and say "Don't make me call Mr Grumpy Pants".

Hey, every office has to have a crazy.

I can imagine it now... MGP balloons at my birthday party... maybe they can make a super detailed model of MPG and maybe make some plush toys (MGP at Build-A-Bear-Workshop)

I personally want to get my grandmother a snow globe of ruined NYC. She collects snow globes. It would be a great birthday present.

A Ruined New York Snowglobe for Grandma; how heartwarming! Very Happy

And a software tester with an MGP plushie. Scary.

Well, just to fire you guys' imaginations, here's the full text of items covered by the trademarks. Not to say they'll make all these things, but it's amusing to consider the possibilities:

    1. Dolls and accessories therefor; action figures and accessories therefor; plush toys; balloons; Christmas tree ornaments; board games; toy building blocks; equipment sold as a unit for playing card games; playing cards; manipulative games; jigsaw puzzles; toy model hobbycraft kits; musical toys; modeled plastic toy figurines, toy banks; toy snow globes; yo-yos; kites; toy music boxes

    2. T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pajamas, tank tops, sweatpants, shorts, pants, scarves, gloves, visors, caps, hats, footwear, waist belts, suspender belts, Halloween costumes and masks sold in connection therewith

    3. Agendas; postcards; greeting cards; shopping bags; pens; pencils; address books; bumper stickers; book marks; pencil holders; notebook stickers; note pads; note cards; paper pennants; calendars; posters; trading cards; gift wrapping paper; rubber stamps; photograph albums; stationery; paper napkins; paper party favors

How about a set of seven Christmas ornaments each featuring the Slusho Seven? Balloons with pictures of Marlena on the side? An MGP toy bank that roars with each coin deposited? Ah, the possibilities!

DIG DUG!!!! *sings the cheesy music*

I want a MGP blanket, so at night, I can feel safe and secure, knowing my MGP blanket will scare away the boogy monster.
