How do you do that?

I'll have to admit that acheron has already thrown me off a bit. I don't ever use any sneaky techniques to solve anything in a puzzle, game or ARG (not that I ever solve anything anyways Wink ) I don't even use cheat codes in video games. But it does look as if they are pointing us in the 'sneaky technique' direction. I am hesitant to list the websites I found because I feel like I'm breaking some sort of rule. So if you'd like to do a reverse IP WHOIS yourself, just go to http://www.whoisreport.com and look up acheron. There will be an option for Reverse IP. You might have to sign up for an account to get that option, but its free.

Fascinating.

Thanks for telling us how to do it.

I did the reverse lookup.. there are a few interesting sites. I was going to put my comments in spoilers, but i decided against it. This is a site that has been sitting around for a while now (since February), just waiting to be found. And there doesn't yet appear to be anything dealing with Acheron on it (at least not overtly). So, if you think this was cheating, don't read anything below this. Otherwise, read on, i found some neat stuff.

Analysis:
The only two sites i found of particular interest were cfrg.us and coyotedispatch.com. Coyotedispatch is password protected.. you can't view anything. But CFRG is the Center For Responsible Government home page. Lots of conspiracy theory stuff.. and it's a relatively new site, registered on Feb.10 of '03. Lots and lots of interesting things on it, especially this article:

http://cfrg.us/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=9

It talks a little about the game "The Beast" entitled "Beware the Subtleties of The Beast." What is most interesting is that some phrases on it are capitalized, set apart from others. Phrases like:

THE MEDIA, NOTHING IS AT IT SEEMS, THE BEAST, THE PURVEYORS OF DISINFORMATION, FREEMASONS, PLAYER'S LIVES, HIVE MIND, ENTERINAMENT, EVERYTHING is A GAME."

But what is even more interesting is what the article says.. especially the last 4 paragraphs. I have copied and pasted them, as i found them very illuminating. It sounds like Acheron might be talking to (or warning) us:

Quote:
Back to the article: it's saying that THE BEAST is A GAME: AN ALTERNATE REALITY GAME that is played COMMUNALLY. And there has been an ONSLAUGHT of these GAMES recently. My sources say that these GAMES invade ALL aspects of a PLAYER'S LIVES. Doesn't this sound a bit suspicious to you?

Can THEY make it any more OBVIOUS? These GAMES are EXERCISES of SKULLDUGGERY perpetuated by…….WHO ELSE? THE FREEMASONS of course.

THEY are breeding TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY TECHNO SLAVES out these PLAYERS, the contents of A HIVE MIND. Right now they've got millions of SOLDIERS at their disposal willing to do ANYTHING for the PLEASURE of ENTERTAINMENT. They will kill GOVERNMENT LEADERS, topple REGIMES, steal funds from SWISS BANKS to finance REVOLUTIONS in small SOUTH AMERICAN NATIONS. THEY will do ANYTHING. NOTHING is REAL to THEM and EVERYTHING is A GAME.

So watch your back. A PLAYER could think that you're an actor that they have to kill in order to PROGRESS THE PLOT. "No," THEY think, "that's not brains dripping out of the actor's skull and onto the pavement. It's only superb special effects." "

Thoughts?

i think this site is definitely ingame...if you click on topics, there is something saying that a person named "tinag" authored 40 articles but they don't show up...tinag=this is not a game....

both the websites above were the ones I was referring to but I thought I would leave it to you to look it up for yourself...

Hope something happens soon!

Just a NOTE TO EVERYONE..

The Tools they have which I gave you, are not Hacking tools in the sense of a hard core hacker would use, but that of a NET ADMIN would use to check for problems on his web site and other misc. things..

Put Good work everyone.. Lets keep up the the work. There has to be a hidden key somewhere for us to find.

It's definitely ingame. The site is hosted on the same server as all the other sites...

Either that or the acheron people are hosting for others.. which i doubt.

That is true.. this isn't hacking stuff.. it's something that anyone can do.

Like i said before, the site was put out there... it wasn't hidden or anything. It's been available for everyone to find for some time now.. so i think we were meant to find it, personally. Now lets see what we can do with it.

I was just going to say that.....I took a peek around last night.
I noticed that clicking on tinag's nic just redirected to the main site.

Tried a bunch of stuff at coyotedispatch...Reggie as UN/ xover222 as PW, vice versa, xover as UN/ 222 as PW....and a few others to no avail.

Hmm.. my guess is that we're not supposed to get into coyotedispatch just yet.

Either that or we're supposed to hack it.

Curse those acheron people! What are we to do?

I say use what we have at our disposal.. if one of those programs we were given has the capability to break in to the site, then lets use it.. otherwise, i'd say we're not to see what lies behind the coyote site just yet.

Has someone looked through everything on the CD's and figured out what all the programs do?

I don't think that's entirely true. For example, the L0pht password cracker is technically marketed as something to "recover lost passwords" but that's a euphamism for breaking into someone's account.

In the same vein, I suppose udpflood could be used to test your own network security, but that's like calling a gun a safety device to check bulletproof vests with...

Granted these aren't hardcore hacker tools, they're "script kiddie" programs. I don't think the PMs would give us anything TOO harmful to use. My question is just if we can assume that since these are tools were were given by the PMs, they are fair game to use?

Coyote Dispatch wasn't orignally password protected...it was a half finished local news site but after my post of my discovery of it, it mysteriously got password protected...

Just a hunch but I don't think we were meant to find it yet...I think the key will be with NRU or Acheron.us...but who knows...

God, I wish I knew something...I'm starting to get paranoid LOL

Good work folks!

Just for completeness sake, I'm adding the full port scan for nru.us:

Code:
IP Address:    66.139.73.95
IP Location:    United States - Texas - Plano - Serverbeach.com
Server Type:    Microsoft-IIS/5.0

Port Scan has started ...

Port Scanning host: 66.139.73.95

Open Port:    13   Daytime (RFC 867)
Open Port:    21   File Transfer Protocol - Control (FTP)
Open Port:    25   Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
Open Port:    37   Time (RFC 868)
Open Port:    53   Domain Name Server (DNS)
    Open Port:    80   HTTP (WWW)
    Open Port:    99   Metagram Relay
Open Port:    110   Post Office Protocol - V.3 (POP)
     Open Port:    1025   Network Blackjack
Open Port:    1026   Calendar Access Protocol
Open Port:    1033   Local Netinfo Port
    Open Port:    1034   ActiveSync Notifications
    Open Port:    3306   MySQL
Open Port:    3372   Transaction Internet Protocol - V.2 (TIP)
Open Port:    3389   MS Web-Based Training (WBT) Server
Open Port:    5631   pcAnywhere - Data

Port Scan has completed ...

Nothing too unusual here, so I think it's a red herring.

When I visited it originally it was, as sauceykat pointed out, a local news site (a sort of online newspaper), with very little content, but sections on news, sports, food, etc. I think it got pulled either because we found it too soon, or because it was so incomplete that they removed it until it could be finished.

Sweet! Remember, don't hit if the dealer is showing a 4, 5, or 6.
