yes, as e^(i*pi) explained, the rings are just a distraction from the true solution to the puzzle.

yes, there is a magnet involved and if you want to learn more look at page 1 of this thread. BUT BE WARNED, IT TELLS EVERYTHING so if you dont want to spoil the whole thing dont look there.
i can PM you if you would like some hints

ISIS Perspective details

I've been ashing lots of questions regarding the solution of this puzzle, but I have a few questions on construction.
1] What kind of magnet is in the ISIS?
2] About what is its size?
3] Holding ISIS plunger side up, is the third ball being held UP by the
magnet? This IS in the LOWER(?) hemisphere [plunger is in UPPER
hemisphere] I.e., is the opening of the well with the magnet towards
the bottom of ISIS (Plunger side is top)? Asking another way; the
UPPER hemisphere is that which the plunger is on top; the third ball
IS(?) in the bottom hemisphere and MUST be released by exiting
in a downward direction from a DOWN(?) pointing cavity with the
magnet

1] What kind of magnet is in the ISIS?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It is believed to be a neodymium magnet (neodymium-iron-boron)

Since you have already taken it well past its Curie point it has probably lost much of its magnetic field intensity. This could actually make things a little easier.
Although the heating could have caused a potential problem from melted glue.

2] About what is its size?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Looks to be approximately 1/8" in diameter. Not sure of the length as it would have to be extracted to find out.

3] Holding ISIS plunger side up, is the third ball being held UP by the
magnet?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yes

This IS in the LOWER(?) hemisphere [plunger is in UPPER
hemisphere] I.e., is the opening of the well with the magnet towards
the bottom of ISIS (Plunger side is top)? Asking another way; the
UPPER hemisphere is that which the plunger is on top; the third ball
IS(?) in the bottom hemisphere and MUST be released by exiting
in a downward direction from a DOWN(?) pointing cavity with the
magnet

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No. The magnet, the third ball bearing and the plunger are all in the top hemisphere.

eebrull, I respect that we each have our own thought process and means of problem solving. In the case of Isis, you seem to be caught up in details that are likely to make finding a solution much more time consuming than necessary. ie. you're over thinking it.

 ISIS Concluded - Finally
Finally solved

After filling up this forum and you all have had lots of laughs I finally got the hang of it. You get drivel like my inputs because, like most high tech people, more questions get asked and want the answer ASAP. Interestingly, there is a number stamped inside the puzzle plus the wad of 'belly button fuzz'. YES! LINT!

All the what to do's tell you you to hear this, wiggle that, and so on. What was needed was what you feel and also a small solid rubber device in the shape of a top hat that can hold the Plunger down because it is very difficult to hold the plunger in and have a free thumb to grip the ISIS. This puzzle may be too difficult for many women because of the strength and time for working the plunger is not easy for a guy also - I barely made it.

Thanks to all - it was interesting.

PS - Doesa anyone know where the web sit where you enter the internal puzzle number????

have you registered your Isis yet? If not, you can do that there too, and they will send you a password via email. You will have to enter the code on the OUTSIDE of Isis to register, then log-in. click on "ENTER THE CODE".
just type in the code on the INSIDE of your Isis and you can select a riddle to try and solve, they are very difficult.

I figure out what to do, but it just won't work
the stupid 3d bb won't go through the maze

I figured out all of the clues by myself, and I know what to do, but for some reason my third ball bearing won't go through the maze. I can twirl, rotate, and swish my isis all I want, rapidly pressing down the plunger or pressing it down later, but it never goes down only slightly.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAH SLKFSLDMNCiowe ewdc r help please

it could be possible that your Isis doesnt have a 3rd bb in it.

there is a trick that can be used to open the Isis that bypasses the third bb.
here is a link to the page, it is posted by charlief222

I DID IT!!!
YAY ME

Thanks a lot, Mecon, the maze must have been jammed because after I hit it a couple times, the third bb went into place. I solved it this morning. I still have a question, though, about the rewards-watch out people in case you didn't know what happens afterward:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If I'm in the US, and I have a Sharper Image Isis, do I have to do the pyramid thing or isn't there some other special thing I can do?

THANKya

in the US, instead of hunting the pyramids, you go to the website and enter in the code on the inside of your Isis and then you can choose a riddle to solve to win prizes, but the riddles are very difficult and you have to be the first person to solve the riddle you chose or else you dont win

Reseting the Isis

Hello again!!
At the end I was able to open my Isis!!!! Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised

But the problem is that my sister caught it yesterday and locked again without following the reset instructions, so I didn't ensure that the ball is in the centre of the lock. She tried to screw the two halves and they nearly locked perfectly together, but there is still a small gap and it got stuck so I can't either screw or unscrew the two halves. Now the three balls can be heard inside. What can I do? Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Unscrew
Help you

If the ball you found when you opened the puzzle can be heard rolling around in the maze, all is probably OK. On my puzzle, I had to hold the plunger in about 3 turns CCW before the hemispheres parted or 3 turns CW to lock both maneuvers require you to hold the plunger ALL THE WAY IN. SO! With the plunger on the bottom and you have gotten rid of the noise of the little ball bearings and also found that the ball is inside the puzzle is in the exit of the maze you should be able to lock or unlock. It locks just the reverse of unlocking. Should the BB be inside the hole with the magnet and you can release it into the maze and solve as you did. However, if the BB was placed 180 degrees off and if it is not making some audible noise in the maze you may have been S-c-r-e-w-e-d. However, on thinking about it, this can't be done. THOUGH!!! If the BB is out of the the puzzle and the puzzle is partway closed or open you have a big problem as this BB is the most critical part of locking or inlocking ISI - Maybe the factory can fix it. My words become redundant - I hope I got the message through. If not , try me again. WHAT CAN YOU HEAR?? The little BBs can't be lost. If you can hear both, you are in luck.

trying to translate that...

as long as the 3rd bb is inside the puzzle and the placentas are lined up you can just open the Isis the same way you did the first time.

if the bb is not in the Isis or the placentas arent lined up, there is a trick to open it. i have posted a link to this shortcut on a recent post, so you can use that.

Isis relock

Do you mean that the lock goes down but doesnt stay down, or that you cannot push the lock down at all?
