[SPEC]If Mr. GP was terrorizing your city, what would you do?

Not sure how much more of the plot can be speculated at this point, so I started wondering about the producer's interview and how many different tapes with different stories could come out of a Grumpypants Scenario.

If you want to think about it in terms of the film, what do you suppose is the next move to be made after retreating into the store? Do you run back into the street? Do you lock yourself in a closet? Do you try to find your loved ones? A car? Where do you go? What would you do?

How do you think it would play out for you on a personal level?

Thank you for helping WY research this topic.

Edit - elevated tag, it's not really OOG, just good old speculation Smile - MikeyJ

like they said in the clip, i would probably wait until it passes, and then backtrack the way it came.
i would then hide in some random store with the lights off, huddled in the corner calling everyone i ever cared about on my cellphone.
if i couldn't see the monster anymore i'd probably steal a car and drive as far as i could out of the city, and then run.

I would follow Grumpy Pants intently around with a video camera -- making sure to snap every shot of his destructive rampage... Then I would sell the tape and make some $$$ to fix my house that Grumpy Pants would undoubtedly destroy.. Smile

I would either grab a gun and start shooting tha muthaf**ker, or I would run back to the apartment and watch the news with the lights off. With every BOOM that gets closer to me, I would bring a long-distance modem and a laptop to the basement to write everything on this forum.

OR

I would start to take my video camera (HD- $350) and start recording everything. Then I would sell it to JJ and tell him to make another movie.*

"HOLLEEE SH*T CLOVERFIELD IS REALLL"

lol O_O What if JJ unleashed a real Clover/GP on 1-18-08???

*Does JJ exist as the LOST creator in the Cloverfield Universe?? I mean, does JJ actually exsist as himself??

I would nuke a lizard and make Godzilla, and than tie my mom to a pole in the middle of some jungle-forest and summon King Kong. Together as a professional wrestling tag-team, they would body-slam the crapstickles out of Cloverfield MGP.

I would than steal a fighter jet and missile Godzilla twice in the side, and shoot King Kong with an old Vickers machinegun.

I would than be hailed as a hero for killing everything. Wink

I would feed him lots of pre-teen girls, hug him, pet him and call him George. He would never be lack for love.

Well, if I knew a monster was heading towards my town, I'd probably take 2 minutes to grab belongings and hop in the car and just drive away.

I think part of what will make Cloverfield so interesting is that, especially in an urban environment (tall skyscrapers blocking visibility; lots of people everywhere), there will be mass confusion. By the time they realize there is a monster, it's already right on top of them. This is also because New York is right by the water, so as soon as the monster surfaces, it's practically in the city. It also seems that Rob n' crew might go back (for Beth?) towards the destruction, not really a normal reaction, but it should make for a good movie.

Go around the monster. Monsters usually travel forward or in a specific direction. Unless I was the monster's target, the second I was behind him, I would probably be safe.

I would run beside it, attach my hook and line to it, and ride as a leader of men.

Long live the fighters!

If it came to my 'city' (I guess it is called one of those, but it's hardly that large), the locals would be going at it with chainsaws and 4WDs. There'd be some use of fire too I suspect, and the ingenuity of the kind of people I live around is sometimes very surprising. Oh, and there'd be guns - lots of guns.
I think the locals here would do better than the military, because they are more hunters than soldiers - they stalk their prey, they don't confront it.

starshiptrooper - I like your style.
Now if only someone could do a better job of translating THAT into film...

Oh, and remember folks - Blade Runner: The Final Cut comes out on DVD tomorrow.

Blade Runner!!! Too cool.
Now if they'd do a Hell comes to Frogtown directors cut, I could die a happy man.

And if Mr. GP showed up in my town, he'd better bring a lunch. Just being in this area sucks the life out of anything. Sort of an Oxygen Destroyer writ large.

I need not worry. This is Miami: he wouldn't be able to take more than two steps before breaking through the thin ground and sinking in to the swamp.
