 [TRAILHEAD?] - 070829.com

Hey guys... Been reading your forum for a while now, mainly because I'm a Graphics student interested in this sort of thing... I came across this site: www.070829.com and after some careful reading of your tips and techniques, (especially with the Sameeeees) I began to wonder whether this may be a new viral campaign that you guys may want to investigate further...

The site opens up with a Flash movie which involves hidden videos. After watching the videos (which undertakes a little patience Laughing ) a message appears saying "I'll be seeing you in the next episode" and after a quick montage, shows an image similar to an iPhone and a countdown screen.

I began thinking it was a viral campaign when I had a nose at the source code for the page...

Quote:
<div id="stepInside">
<div id="noSoupForYou">
<script type="text/javascript">
var images = new Object();
images.loaded = 0;
images.starttime = new Date();
images.toload = 8;
for(i=1; i<9; i++){
images[i] = new Image();
images[i].onload = function(){
images.loaded++;
if(images.loaded == images.toload){
images.stoptime = new Date();
images.loadtime = images.stoptime.getTime() - images.starttime.getTime();
}
}
images[i].src = "img/"+i+".jpg";
}
function img_over(img){
if(document.images){
document.images[0].src = "img/"+img+".jpg";
}
}
function randor(){
var ran_number = Math.floor(Math.random()*Cool+1;
img_over(ran_number);
}
e = setInterval(randor,50);
</script>
<img src="img/1.jpg" border="0" style="margin-top:50px"/>

<br/>
You are not quite ready to step inside yet.

so.write("stepInside");

Please describe. I don't want screamers or freaky movies.

Countdown, eh? How much do we have? I think it might lead to something new, like the NY TAKMA countdown.

Also:

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!

I decided to spoiler it in case it should be for who knows why. Also because of the unusual name.

hmm, i gave up on geting the last video, as you've already told me what it says.

yeah, just have to wait I guess. xD

lightmaker.com is an actual website that designs interactive games, websites and "experiences". if you ask me, the name is real.

and some of the work they have done suggests they are a very commerical company. it's probably quite a big viral campaign.

I came up with that too - quite a strange website. There are a few blogs with the names nosoupforyou and stepInside too. No surprise there though I guess.

hmm.. when i do nosoupforyou.com it just comes up with a list of restaurants and other places in Gainsville, FL.

this "soup nazi" must have something to do with it. its the title of an episode of something. maybe a clue is in that episode? it does say, see you in the next episode.. so the one AFTER the soup nazi episode? hm, i dunno. just an idea.

I didn't search for the .com and it threw up a few blogs with that username. As I said it's an odd website - it has quite a lot of realistic details but some off features like the pointless postcode box.

ahhhh .net

yeah, it's all a bit wierd.

that nosoupforyou is important, as it's completely irrelevant to anything at the moment.

EDIT: the script talks a lot about stepping inside, and there is a line saying "You are not quite ready to step inside yet." hm..

According to this site, it appears to be a marketing campaign for a new Nokia phone.

Right, well, unless they come up with a reason for this to get interesting that looks to be it!

As an enormous Seinfeld fan, I can tell you the episode after "The Soup Nazi" is called "The Secret Code".

Elaine is trying to date a guy, Jerry almost becomes a spokesman for a local small business, and Kramer attempts to become a fireman. The secret code portion comes in with George. Susan, his fiance, wants to know his ATM pin code and he won't tell her. George gets stuck at a dinner with J. Peterman, Elaine's boss. On the way back from the dinner, Peterman gets called to the hospital where his comatose mother is being treated. When Peterman leaves the room, George breaks down and tells the mother his ATM code "Bosco". Peterman returns, Mother wakes up, says "Bosco" and dies. Peterman becomes obsessed with what it could mean, and through another series of events, George has to tell him to save a man's life.

I knew watching Seinfeld would come in handy eventually. Very Happy
Who knows if that's important, but there ya go.

Heh... I knew you guys would uncover this pretty quick... but I'm afraid I'm not as geeky as I seem. It probably would have taken me at least a month to figure out some of the puzzles you've undertaken.

Anyway, I thought I'd post up an image comparison of the iPhone and the countdown screen.

The Mysterious iPhone: (if they're trying to advertise it now, I have to say they left it a bit late.)

Screencap of 070829.com when videos have all been found:

I'm not surprised it is some kind of mobile phone campaign.

Is it me, or does the text also look similar to the now annoying Cloverfield trailer?
