MGP would not die for one. I'm not sure I would end with Rob and Beth both dying... I mean, it's a huge monster, it's not necessarily going to kill every living human being in New York, unless it was unbelievably intelligent and had the ability to find everyone. So of course, I would have survivors, including a lot of those from the party, maybe even Rob and Beth. (And by survivors, i'm referring only to those in Rob's group/party. Not New York. New York would have millions of survivors.)

A few of the characters survive, flying away from the city just as the monster is destroyed via a nuclear device. They arive in -Insert Generic City Here- only to discover that this city has been attacked as well, suddenly another monster bursts from the ground, a third rises from the sea, a flying monster lands right in front of them and a horde of human size monsters swarm from the buildings. The movie ends just as the millitary rolls into the city and the monsters, the small monsters and the millitary start to blow the poop out of each other.

I would end the movie with the characters seeing the explosion from the rooftop, and I would have duped everyone into watching the prior 85 minutes of the surprise party.

*Rob and Beth are hiding and hear the monster coming*

*Rob is holding a Slusho*

Rob: I have an idea!

Beth: What?

Rob: Shh! Be quiet! I'm gonna give the monster some slusho.

Beth: WTF MANE

Rob: Its worth a try.

*Rob gets up and holds Slusho in front of monster*

*Monster kneels down so its face is right in front of Rob and sniffs the Slusho*

*Monster makes happy "mmmm" sound*

Rob: *whispering* its working.....

*Monster sniffs Slusho again*

*Monster smiles and gets really happy*

*Monster eats them anyway*

Rob ends his soliloquy, perhaps Beth adds a word or two, then we fade to black. Suddenly we see new footage, looks like someone stumbling their way through some ruins. But no one speaks, all we hear is the vast emptiness of a dead NYC. The person slowly makes their way to something lying strewn on the ground. It zooms in to Hud's camera.

Cut to wide angle shot of unmanned rover vehicle, a machine similar to the ones sent to Mars to take photographs. A panel opens on the rover and a small mechanical arm comes out and retrieves the camera. We don't see Rob or Beth's body by the camera, which leaves some possibilities open.

The rover then continues on its way as the main camera slowly pulls out, revealing a completely decimated NYC. Smoke, fire, and debris are everywhere. Just before the film fades to black one last time, we see a clear sight of Mr. Grumpy Pants stopping at a pool of water to take a sip. It is a little patch of untouched grass and trees that seems like a small oasis amidst all the carnage. He looks around, grunts, then speeds off-screen.

They all die... is how i would end it.
