[WILD SPEC] Monster intent on "erasing" Manhattan?

Ever since the first trailer I've thought the monster was sentient and had revenge of some sort in mind. Now the new scene of Rob pointing to a map and saying, do you want to die here, or here, or here? I think it's even more likely. Does Rob know or feel justified in guessing that the monster is trying to utterly destroy all of Manhattan? The other element here is the designation of "the area formerly known as Central Park." It obviously gets torn up enough to be unrecognizable from the rest of the city. The thing is clearly not a chicken trying to get to the other side. If it wades back and forth the firestorms and destruction could erase most of everything.

Does the monster follow the tanker back to NY harbor? As revenge for being "tapped into" (as in the other spec that it's blood was drilled when under the ocean floor, and it had issues with that)? Taking the time to rip off the head of an inanimate statue, and then throwing it will ill intent always suggested a thinking monster, and my question has always been does Rob know why it's angry? Does he know the whole city is dead meat waiting to happen?
