We're such suckers. Haven't even seen what this monster looks like and we're ready to throw our $$ at this movie. I think the commercials for it rather suck and only the monster itself will save this movie
Ever heard of suspense? We've been told we won't officially be shown the creature until the movie. Why would you want to see it before the movie anyway?

I'd have voted for that. Dude's been missing for HOW LONG? And now he's coming BACK to... bribe us to death...
With as long as Mr. Hoffa has been missing, I'm sure unrecognizable would be the right pick for him.
I picked unrecognizable; I hope the creature is original enough for us to not be able to associate it with anything (example: if it is some kind of mutant it is so mutated we can't discern the original animal).

The only problem I have with it being unrecognisable, is that there seems to be a big push on the 'what is it?' line, If it's something that's barely describable, then it would be a hard question to answer, even if after you've seen the movie. But maybe that's the idea.
I voted for shrimp, before I change my mind again.

Could it be The X-Factor ? To the untrained eye it will, at first glance, appear like a giant ratatouille. However, as you move away from it and gain more perspective it actually looks more like a half eaten plate of turkey, which will be a terrifying sight especially for neat freaks who hate the sight of food left out in the open.
This way, some people will be doubly traumatized by this monster. Oh JJ Abrams, how I hate your evil genius !

Of Unrecognizable origin (if mutated), not like so hideously grotesque and unrecognizable people are spewing over-priced popcorn and sodas when they see it then can't describe it when asked. A Gelatinous Blob would be kind of lame.
Geeky D&D references ahead: you've been warned.
A Deepspawn would be interesting, but it'd have to be a lot bigger. And they do bite.
A Gibberling Mouther would fall into my grotesque catgory above. They look like this .
Perhaps an Illithid (ming Flayer) invasion, nah, we've gone over the Cthulhu stuff.
I'm sure any SciFi and/or Fantasy fan on this board could come up with an incredibly imaginative creature we'd all like to see terrorizing helpless people trapped on an island, but still the fact of the matter is being trapped on an island with a 10 story tall hamster that's just freaked out and trying to escape would be terrifying. No matter what it looks like, this creature is just icing on a cake.

It won't, that's from Massive Black in 2003, same designer though.
Does this count as reptile/dinosaur?

I vote reptile/dinosaur...even though its pobably gonna have some aquatic abilities/characteristics.
I'll be happy so long as he has pointy teeth...sharp pointy teeth.

Okay, good. I mean, it looks cool... but doesn't seem right for Cloverfield.

I'd say ManBearPig, and a Timesplitter, for variety.

Forget ManBearPig - it's a cloud of smug generated by hybrid owners and George Clooney's Oscar acceptance speech. Long story, but it possesses MGP and leads him on a smug rampage through NY.
That all sounded better in my head.
