Remember the 2006 made for television move, "Flight 93?" Guess who produced it. Fox Television Studios. Ah yes, exploiting 9/11 is an awful thing, isn't it Fox?

I still think that lady is stupid and I'm glad that there was a reaction like that. I really want it to be addressed on Fox.

Too bad the article didn't talk about how the Statue of Liberty was not decapitated on 9/11.

Edit:

I like Fox. I agree with Kraker that they weren't exploiting the victims. They were remembering them.

Dollars to donuts, that old bag is Christian too.

Moron.

Even my 80 year old grandmother, who's batty without her blood pressure meds, saw the commercial and said, "Why are they making a monster destroying New York movie? That's not nice." Commerical ends. "Oh it comes out on your birthday, Alicia. How nice."

She's pop culture clueless and didn't think it was political. God bless senility. God bless my grandmother. God bless this thread. God bless those that go see Cloverfield. God bless JJ Abrams.

Amen. Very Happy

To play the devil's advocate, don't be an idiot. Fox did that to honor the victims, not exploit them...

And how did we get into this debate about Fox's integrity. If you don't like them, go spam their forums. Don't whine about it here.

Touche, I meant Fox. Sorry about that. I never watch Fox News. Too biased for me.

There are good things on FOX news. The debates on Hannity and Colmes are hysterical sometimes.

I even watch CNN sometimes. I believe in getting all sides of the issue. You're guaranteed a liberal viewpoint on CNN and a conservative one on FOX. Expand your mind! Get both sides of the story and make up your own mind. You can allways turn the channel.

And this game is out of hand. Think I'll turn the channel. Shows why we need a college football playoff instead of this bowl crap

I was reading a transcript of one of the H&C interviews from earlier this year today - you know, the one where everyone except Colmes, even the panel 'liberal', Pat Caddell, supported Anne Coulter for calling Democrat John Edwards a "faggot", by saying she had meant it as a joke (how that works, I don't know), and that she used the word "faggot" in the correct context (I also fail to see how that works). That was hilarity, in a painful kind of way - especially when they all kicked Colmes' arse.

I like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. That's fun news.

Oh, in case you don't know the anonymous/hackers on steroids thing, here's a quote from http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NewMediaAreEvil -

Quote:
his Fox News "special report" purports to reveal the activities of a gang of "hackers on steroids" called Anonymous who destroy the lives of MySpace users, make death threats, and threaten to blow up stadiums. In fact, the "anonymous" in question is simply the default login to most Imageboards (the so-called "secret websites" and "underground hacker sites"). The "report" includes a random clip of a truck blowing up, apparently as a "demonstration" and a signal that You Can Panic Now. The "anonymous insider" is clearly in on the gag; note use of 4chan Catch Phrases like "Anonymous does not forgive". The mention of "like a real-life video game" earns extra New Media Are Evil points.

* Note that this followed an incident where a shell script was discovered with FTP login information in an root image directory that had been left completely open on Fox's site, exposing contact information for over a million people; hilarity ensued. Not that the "report" said anything about that.

Personally, I'm considering writing an email. Maybe I'll write one to Bill O'Reilly. Does he still have a show at Fox? Because if we all emailed him, his reply would be FUN. Or maybe Hannity, failing O'Reilly.

I'm going to rein myself back in now. Get back in my cage.

Bacon!!! Yes, you got my reference.

Just to clear some stuff up though, anonymous member Eric Baulmer (not sure how to write his name, but he's in charge of ebaum's world) apparently hacked Fox and uploaded millions of documents of gay porn into their servers, effectively crashing them. Then Fox got pissed and did an expose on them which was completely false, and so they got their forums spammed to pieces.

All I can say is ..ugh! I lost a cosin who was very close to me in 9/11, and if he knew this movie was coming out he would be happy that a giant monster was trashing manhattan, and the way we move on is just by forgetting the incident and only remembering the person. this lady is what me and my family call a "Grief monger" they thrive on reliving horrible events and try to force everyone to relive their pain and suffering over and over again. Lady Liberty was not hit during 9/11, and the MGP is not one of Bin Laden's henchman trying to achieve enlightenment and go heaven and get his 100 virgins. this is just the Fox network at it's best, can we expect no less from the station that brought us Family Guy, then canceled it, then brought it back because they realized they were retarded?

Good luck with finding a 100 virgins. The Muslims must have a stockpile somewhere because I don't know a 100 here on earth.

Again, the definition for trout! It is used when someone posts something that has already been posted. It is not used for trolls or when you disagree with a person's point of view.

Please read the Glossary to familiarize yourselves with the correct usage of our beloved fish.

Thank you.

Bin Laden is promising 100 virgins now? The Quran only promises 72 virgins to martyrs. Wonder how he's subsidizing the other 28 virgins in heaven?

Couldn't remember the number of virgins myself. (I thought 100 was a little high) And maybe they're getting them from the same places the US gets all their cheap labor. China or India.

I have had this discussion so many times I think I'm gonna be sick.

If a movie was made about buildings falling in ANY city (not just NYC), the imagery of the dust clouds is mandatory. Why? Because we know now that's what happens when a building collapses in the middle of a city. Go back and look at the Tristar Godzilla. The destruction looks really weak because it's not accurate. Buildings don't collapse without dust at street level.

That said, if you're shooting a movie with a street level POV of a monster knocking down buildings, AND you're trying to make it feel realistic, you're going to have the dust cloud and the people running for cover. It's not a 9/11 reference, it's just a disaster reference.

Oh, and Faux News blows. They jump on anything terrorism related and make a deal of it. The National Enquirer is less sensational.

What would her religious background have to do with anything? Why would you even mention this?

OK, people, I think, we should stop to discuss this theme, because now we are they who exploit that tragic theme.
And respect to all the victims and other people personally hurt by that incident.

Remember 9/11 is the rallying cry of those who let fear rule their lives. I refuse to. Yeah, it happened, it was bad, but it was not surprising, and it won't be surprising if it happens again. We cannot let fear influence our every waking moment. Those who do, see 9/11 everywhere, and use phrases like "remain vigilant" and "post 9/11 world".

Me, I see a monster movie, and it should be fun, and I hope it makes me afraid, that's what I pay the $10 for. The simple solution is, if you don't like the movie or it reminds you of how scared you are in your own life, then don't go see it. Smile
