Sadly, my cable provider also does not offer BBC, or I would watch it. Sad

My cable provider doesn't offer much of anything. I'm pretty much stuck with CNN and FOX. I won't go near BSNBC.

i didnt know that BBC and NBC had a joint channel Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The humor escapes you. I most certainly did mean BSNBC

Yes, my bad. Al jazirah is a state in sudan... al jazeera is the network.

Just send your email to Cavuto. It was on his show. O'Reilly will just call you a pinhead.

But I want O'Reilly to call me a pinhead! It's fun when people who host talkback radio shows and current affairs/opinion tv shows insult you, because you know, deep down, that they're totally irrational. Trust me, I've done it before.

It's an honor for Bill to call someone a Pinhead. That means they've got under his skin!

I just watched the piece online, and I have a few questions.

1. Bill Cosby's Chicken that Ate Manhattan? WTF IS THAT?

2. How are they 'parodying' 9/11, as Mrs. Hoagland says at the end of the piece?

3. Neil Cavuto says "outrage today over Cloverfield poster" - the posters have been up for several months, why only outrage today, unless the outrage is because it's close to the release date and could potentially hurt the film if brought to the forefront, which would be in the best interests of Fox, given their moving of 27 Dresses to 1-18-08?

4. Why should no NY destruction movies be made unless it has Al Qaeda in it? Wouldn't that be even more blatant exploitation of 9/11?

5. WTF is up with that lady's hair?

Did you just put "Honour" and "Bill O'Reilly" in the same sentence?

Surprised

:::stops to see if the poles are going to reverse or a tear is about to appear in the space-time continuum::::

I think you might have gotten away with it this time... ::phew::

You just don't screw around mixing words like that together. That will mess with the very foundations of the universe it's so wrong.

It's just not done.

Shame on you. Be careful.

Of course that woman's article and Neil Cavuto wont mention a high budget film with a very famous actor in it like I Am Legend...I think planes flying into a bridge is more of a resemblance to 9/11 than a statue of liberty head ripped off take a look:

Quote:
We should be aware that we are open to terrorist attacks

Now,
i dont know what a giant monster has to do with "being open about terrorism", but she needs to get over it.

This just makes me so pissed. OMG its just a movie people! if you dont like, dont watch it. Everyone just wants to be on TV and this woman who has no idea what she is talking about just got her 15 seconds of fame. You think people would look up information and research the subject before trying to persuade people to not see the movie. Mad

She's simply a professional victim who wasn't satisfied with her first fifteen minutes of fame...

I just drafted this letter up for our good friend Mr. Cavuto. I'm going to work on the letters to Mr. O'Reilly and to Fox in general soon. Any problems with this letter (call this a beta read)?

Dear Mr. Cavuto,

On January the 2nd, your show, "Your World", ran a story on the upcoming film Cloverfield, and how it - purportedly - deliberately exploits and capitalizes on the events of 9/11. As an passionate film-goer and as someone who has been avidly following this film since the first, anonymous trailer was run in front of Transformers last year, I was, for want of a better word, disgusted by the utter lack of journalistic objectivity of the piece. The fact that you felt that this was 'important news', when the parallels to 9/11 are ambiguous and viewer-dependent as it is, and the added fact that you decided to play the emotional card by bringing in the mother of a man killed in the 9/11 attacks shows just how little regard for correct journalistic processes your show seemed to have in their approach towards that film.

I understand that Mrs. Hoagland has been through a terrible ordeal in losing her son in 9/11, and, as someone who did not lose someone in the attacks, I cannot pretend to understand the extent of her grief. However, it has been nearly 7 years since the 9/11 attacks, and it is ludicrous that the public should be deprived of basic entertainment because a group of people feel said entertainment draws dubious parallels to 9/11. Cloverfield is, and always has been, a monster movie aiming for realism, and the fact that your show feels that a monster decapitating the Statue of Liberty and smashing through buildings in Manhattan draws irrefutable parallels to terrorists driving planes into the World Trade Centre shows a profound lack of judgement. The fact that you then irresponsibly aired these biased and near-baseless accusations for a wide audience shows a complete lack of journalistic integrity on your and your show's behalf. This is reinforced by the fact that your guest, Mrs. Hoagland, seemed intent on making us all continuously remember and relive the pain and horror of 9/11 rather than move on from the attacks, by saying (and I paraphrase here) that films should not be made about destruction in New York unless they deliberately and blatantly evoke images of the 9/11 attacks through their depicting Al Qaeda in the film.

Also interestingly, you choose in your story to also ignore films that more directly invoke images of the 9/11 attacks, such as United 93, World Trade Centre, the Fox television film Flight 93, and recent blockbuster I Am Legend (in which the Brooklyn Bridge is deliberately bombed). It must also be noted that these posters have been displayed in numerous countries for several months, and your timing seems unnecessarily deliberate in terms of drawing bad press for the film (which, may I note, has just been announced as going up against 20th Century Fox film 27 Dresses in the box office on the week of 1-18-08 - and 20th Century Fox is a sister company of Fox News, if I am not mistaken). Your piece severely lacks journalistic integrity, not only in a complete lack of knowledge as to what Cloverfield was depicting, but also in regards to your sensationalist, irresponsible editorializing of the matter in evoking dubious images of 9/11.

Cloverfield is a monster movie, not some thinly-veiled 9/11 parable. Any amount of research would show that any evoking of images of 9/11 is purely accidental and up to the viewer's interpretation.

Yours sincerely,

Adam Goodall.
