Following the tanker is the only reason I can understand for MGP attacking that particular ship. I'm sure there's plenty more ships going around the NY harbor.

I am not saying I totally disagree based on what we know, it just seems odd is all.

maybe the ship doesnt have oil but slusho or sea bed nectar wich attracts the monster? but i dont want to get trouted here, but maybe it follows that one ship because of that ?

I think that has been the general line of thought, and you won't get trouted as long as you post in an existing thread. My thought, though, was that it was odd that MGP didn't just attack the tanker since he/she attacked the station (apparently). Just odd, not totally implausible (but for me, not very believable -- this is, however, a crazy sci-fi monster flick, so . . . )

i know it sure is getting crazy
maybe the monster is sensitive to light? i highly doubt it or something to do with the climate or what not yeah i question that too why didnt it just attack the ship like it did to the station ( but were assuming too much here NO ONE knows why the station is gone for sure or if it was there in the first place) i want to believe it was there tho

Hmmm, negatively phototropic.
That could explain waiting until late night to attack. Good thinking.

Which would fit with a creature of deep sea origin and could provide possible explanation as to why it doesn't just attack the tanker. It stays in the dark of the sea during the day and at night, catches up to the tanker. A stretch, I know, but it's a shot in the dark, I haven't really done much speculating around here.

Nice pun there.

Another thing occurred to me.
If it is basically negatively phototropic, consider the northern latitude where it appears to live. Here we are in the time of longer nights in the northern hemisphere.

Thanks, I'm a clever one, aren't I? Wink Anyway, we, of course be way off base too. But this is fun. One thing I thought was interesting was that many of us spent time thinking, "why is it 63 in January?" In my location, the next 3 days are predicted to be in the upper 40s to lower 50s (deg. F). But I digress.

We might be onto something with this day/night thing. Do we have any daylight scenes in any of the trailers?

Ahh. I thought of that actually, did that look like dawn or twilight to anyone else?

I mean, say our tanks, bombs, so on don't destroy it... It could be a good reason why the monster leaves [assuming that nothing destroys it].

It attacks at night and leaves as the sun rises?

It's a pretty classic horror device, I wouldn't be surprised to see it used here in some way, it seems to fit extraordinarily well with what we know (and what we assume).
