Just a thought on the music-bit. Regardless of what JJ can have said early on, a desicion to add music can be made much later, in editing or after test-screenings. Music is an important tool to a moviemaker, and can often cover op weaker parts of a movie, or help set a mood, which helps with understanding a movie.

Not only that, but the use of ambient-music can be very effectful as well. Anyone remember the opening of Independence Day, and the radio-music?

Im not saying this is a muscial, Razz, just that a lack of a traditional sound-track, doesn't mean there will be no music.

Exactly, Marauder. It may not be music per say. But them walking through stores and stop to hear a radio playing kinda gives me the creeps. It's like...Life outside of NewYork is still going. Yet, time has stopped here. Ya know?

Minnnnd Trip Duude.

Some of us have been lucky enough to see There Will Be Blood, and there is nothing but music for the first 25 minutes or so. The mood is far greater than No Country For Old Men (not that it wasn't also a fantastic movie).

quote from the article:

Quote:
The filmmakers coaxed Paramount into letting them use no-name actors who could improvise, low-key natural night light, herky-jerky HandyCams (as opposed to SteadiCams, which can be artificially jerked around later; "People would smell that in a second," says Reeves), and no musical score at all -- just source music and well-orchestrated ambient sound.

Your boy that says he saw the movie is full of Bull Shite

Not to pick on Starshiptrooper though he quoted the source artcle..... but how about bolded the important part and reading comprehension ftw

Since he didn't say anything like "Man, the Metallica soundtrack is phat!" I don't see how he contradicted anything

I'll now quote the most important part of the "review"

Quote:

The only music in the movie will probably be what's heard at the party, and if there happens to be a radio playing in a car or building they run past. We're only going to hear faint, short clips of songs. Ever hear music that's in the background of home movies? No bass, kinda shrill.

Don't see how that would qualify as "awesome" or even really important to the movie.

No guys, certainly not a troll. It is actually just a car forum with a kinda "anything" goes type section. I just don't want to feel too dumb here, because you guys know how this stuff works much better than I. The guy is a good guy, with no real interest in the movie, more just his job. Perhaps he just mixed up, my "two" monsters theory. Anyway, thanks for the welcome guys!

Oh yeh, this is what he posted after seeing the movie this A.M. Ok, here is an update, What I can say about the movie is the pictures posted here are wrong. The movie does have an ending, it doesnt stop in the middle and leave you hanging ala Lost style. The music in the movie is awesome, its nice to see a mainstream moive paying attention to music. The movie was entertaining all the way through. Oh yeah, Hot chick in it!

Beyond that, I cannot say to much more about it. There should be some previews of it the night before it opens, beyond that, opening

I know it's not much, but when I know he saw ACTUALLY saw it. Thats hard to come by these days.

wait a sec, how did your friend get to see it already??

I DO agree with this statement though. I almost 100% expect to see something that we never thought of. (or at least ruled out)

No, actually we don't.

While I do hope there is one monster, and there probably will be, there is always a possibility of two.

On another message board I visit, one of the members there got to see Cloverfield about 1100 EST

I think it's safe to say that 99.9% of people on message boards claiming to have seen the film are lying.

99.9999998%, I'd say.

Has there been ANY confirmation of a screeening, other than a private industry one?

Nope.

The first early screenings are on the 15th.

I hate to be the bearer of ill will...but...

The OP's lack of naming or linking the post and/or forums is disturbing, to the point I wonder whether it exists or not.

Secondly, I wonder how on earth the OP got two monsters from that line. Seeing how that line has very little relevance to the monster, or the movie itself, let alone any references to good and evil. Its an unfounded theory.

Thirdly, how does "No comment Very Happy " (I assume by 'with a smile' you meant a smiley) constitute to your theory being right?

Fourthly, when the 'insider' posts "What I can say about the movie is the pictures posted here are wrong", what pictures are he referring too? Unless im missing something, this line makes no sense.

Fifthly, the 'insider' posts no information on the movie at all, essentially all opinions that cannot be proven wrong later. And all posts like someone who has little knowledge of the movie at all, particularly the music remark, as most people that have followed the movie know its been done with a hand held video camera and is unlikely to contain any music. It appears more of a generic comment, like the rest of it. Frankly, the post could be made about any movie.

A note about things in general: Why, when someone puts forward 'evidence' of someone having inside knowledge, they always portray them as someone who has little to no interest in the movie. Frankly, I would have though one of the many cloverfielders working in cinemas and movie disturibution on here would probably end up seeing the movie before someone who has "no real interest in the movie". Its obviously an attempt to make the source seem unbiased.

So all in all, I think the thread is a bunch of bolony.

Sorry for being harsh, but I didnt want to sugar coat anything.
