[SPEC] Mutant monkey?

This is my first post, im not a troll, well, i sorta i guess, i read but never participate.

I was thinking about how theres talk about all sorts of animals all the time, everyone wants to protect the animals, or someone is destroying them/their world. Then all the animals on slusho, they dont seem to have any significance. So i googled space animals, read up on every animal ever used in space, and noticed something.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animals_in_space

then i noticed that there has only been one incident where the animal was never recovered...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordo_%28space_monkey%29

and i realized as well, theres a monkey on the slusho page that holds a flag...like hes in space declaring someting...or coming from space declaring that now earth is his. trout me if you want, just thought it was pretty plausible.

edit: oh yeah, forgot to add, the monkey was lost in the sea...

The animal on the Slusho! site is not a monkey, it's a chimp. Chimps are apes, not monkeys.

can it really be drawn in a way where anyone could figure that out though? i mean cmon, short of putting what it is in letters next to it, or it just being a plain obvious animal "its a horse! no its a pony! no its a midget horse!" i dunno, guess im trying to defend my theory

weird, gordo is considered an ape. i dunno, why would something called a squirrel monkey be a chimp? then again, its a squirrel monkey but not a squirrel...

If the monster was some sort of mutated monkey I'd be hugely disappointed. We already know a lot about the plot as it is, and the only major mystery at this point is the monster itself. So if it turned out to be a friggin' monkey? Forget about it.

Have you seen the Slusho! commercial? At the end it shows a live action chimp holding a cheese flag.

And yes it can be drawn in such a way that you can tell, apes don't have tails, most monkeys do.

There has been a slight lean towards the monkey/chimp theory. Just a bit. Of all the names they could have made up- WHY ChimpanzIII?

And the Chimp in the Slusho commercials does seem to get brought up often, so it has made some sort of impression on us.

Plus, we've heard all sorts of reviews saying that this monster has 'human-like expressions'...

on a side note, I don't know why- but this topic reminds me of this image.

Gordo is not considered an ape or a chimp, he's a squirrel monkey. That's it.

"Gordo was a South American species of squirrel monkey, about one foot tall and weighing between 1 and 1.5 kg. He was chosen for space travel because of his similar anatomical makeup to man and sensitivity to changes in temperature. The use of monkeys in NASA space missions was not new: five monkeys called Albert, as well as monkeys called Patricia and Mike had all flown by 1952."

From Wikipedia.

That apes don't have them, but most monkeys do, so if you want to tell whether the primate you're looking at is an ape or a monkey, check whether it has a tail.

Generally if it doesn't have a tail, it'll be an ape. There are exceptions to this as some monkeys don't have tails either, but no ape has a tail unless it's some kind of mutant.

An entire family's been lost in space.... The Robinson Family along with Major Don West and Doctor Zachary Smith... and a robot.
