This is what I believe the monster will look like. This may be a possible spoiler based upon JJ Abrams comments at SDCC. Note that he mentioned King Kong and Godzilla during his presentation.

That pic would explain the reviews that have said the monster has an expressive, human-like face.

And it's green.

That's pretty good work. Who did it?

Maybe it's a space-monster which has been trapped on the bottom of the sea for ages...

i'm much happier with that than KONGZILLA ::gag::

I mean.. seriously.. Kongzilla?!?!?
I keep thinking of things to say... but still i've got nothing.
King Kong = cool
Godzilla (minus the 1998 movie) = cool
Kongzilla= LAMELAMELAMELAMELAME

just my opinion ofcourse.

That is a Randy Bowen sculpture from Bowen Designs. Long ago sold out and discontinued. I think its an awesome figure and would make for a horrifying cloverfield monster. But I don't think it would be named Kongzilla., but I just think it would make a good likeness of the cloverfield beast.

I'm still hoping the monster is NOT bipedal.
But.. I suppose of Kongzilla were not named Kongzilla, I may not hate it so much lol

To stay on topic.. I still don't think it's a space alien.. unless it's Cthulhu style and has been dormant since before humans came to be on earth.

The only linking to the outerspace monster theory is- the press and tagruato's headline about the piece that fell off of a Japanese satellite that could easily be a cover up.

I mean, I REALLY hate the idea of it being a giant alien from outerspace... we're definitely talking "1950's material, AND very Cthulhu-ish," but as the days progress, I can't help but lean towards the thought that it is indeed an alien.

I'm grasping at straws here... but perhaps the piece that fell from the satellite was infected with space...germs... and it caused something in the ocean to mutate Laughing Rolling Eyes Shocked

Anyway we will probably never know unless they actually mention where it came from in the movie. OR something happens in the ARG before the movie debuts confirming where the monster came from.

As I said before, never assume the media never gets it wrong - especially about this movie...
Odet Jasmin is in the movie, right?
TV Guide says so
Hollywood.com says so
RopeofSilicon.com says so
the New York Times says so (although it also contradicts itself on the same page)
ComingSoon.net still has a listing for this actress that doesn't exist
I could go on, there's plenty more examples that get more obscure as we go. Obviously they all just follow the herd.
Who's the moo-cow now?

Well maybe you're all right. And are forgetting Tagruato has their hand in many ventures. Maybe they were working on some genetic experiment that involved space exploration.

Somehow I believe that will be the angle here.

I agree on the genetic mutation angle at the subsidiary - Yoshido - But I think its all worldly - not alien - jmo

I'm right behind you on ANY theory that deals with our 'Big Bad' being of earthly origin.

MGP from space would also explain why the second Cloverfield trailer is in the "From Beyond" section of Comcast On Demand.

well, if it's on Comcast On Demand then it must be right.
