[META]What if Cloverfield sucks?
All this hype and no payoff? How will you feel?

So, after months of sparse clues and speculation, through Slusho, Tagruato, the MySpace pages, the leaked memos, the merchandise, the strip tease... What if the film is crap? Would you throw out your Slusho merch? Would you never play another ARG/ARE? Would you never watch "Lost" and not go see "Star Trek" or anything else ever associated with JJ Abrams?

(not sure what to tag this. sorry)

I will feel ripped off and ten dollars poorer. I will also be sad because the ARG had so much potential, (as does the movie). The overall feeling will be disappointment.

It won't suck.

lol... i mean, we've seen plenty of commercial time and we've agreed with it so far.

No, I think what will effect people the most is the monster- what it looks like. I'm more concerned with that. I want it to be unique, but not ridiculous.

A cop responded to an accident, and the driver of one car was dead. The man that killed him was his brother, the brother was upset but not crying. The cop told him it was an accident, and the man wasnt that upset, he showld little signs of remorse. The cop knows the family(its a small town) and he drives the son home to be with his family. The conversation went something like this:
"hey ma, dad"
"Are you alright? You look like hell." The mother sees the cop. "What did you do?"
"No mom, im not alright, i got into an accident" The man pauses. "I hit (brother's name)"
"What hospital is he at, is he ok?"
"No hes not alright, hes dead."
"Oh my God." Shocked look on the mothers face.
"I killed him ma, iim so sorry."
The mother begins to cry, she cries hysterically for what feels, to the cop, like forever. He needs to get back and start the report and such, but then the son stands and says something the cop will never forget. Something so inconsiderate, so angry almost, so insincere, but at the same time, so true and so real. The son says
"Ma what are you gonna do" and leaves the room. The mother does not cry again until the closed casket wake.

Don't go in expecting the best movie ever and you should be ok.
If it carries on anything like the preview clip, it should be good fun.
My only fear is motion sickness.

Unlike what looks like a bunch of folks I liked the original Blair Witch and found it pretty frikken scary.

My concern is that Cloverfield follows the same path and doesn't show enough/any of the monster. I can handle a crappy story or acting but if they don't have one or two major scenes with the monster I'll be disappointed.

lets all just understand, the commercials have been fricken awesome, especially that widget 5(?) minute scene. im pretty sure everyone got excited from JUST that alone.

the only problem i see is how much of the monster we'll see and what the monster will look like, other than that, this movie will pwn n00bs no problem

DO NOT FEAR CLOVERHEADS

Matt Reeves already said in an interview you'll see the monster very well.

I've said for me already for months: even if the movie sucks, the Cloverfield ARG is already great experience, the sharing of interests with characters through MySpace, finding clues, translating Japanese etc. etc. etc.

Cloverfield team gave me already months of enjoynment, hehe. Even if the movie sucks, I'll buy the DVD with all the extras. Marketing gurus, you win!

Exactly...
That's the reason why I like to follow the spoilers for movies that I'm interested in.
Even if the movie isn't very good, I've had fun with the whole experience prior to it's release.

I'm guessing it will suck. I mean, let's face it... The acting in the preview is truly not good.

But I think it will be a great, fun, exciting movie anyways!

If you expect the movie to suck...then why the hell are you here. Confused
Take your negative bullshit somewhere else.
