The objects being blown out of the water are still bugging me...

I realize that this is a movie and not reality but the density of ocean water at the sea surface is about 1027 kg/m3, and considering the shear weight of that girder, and the height in which it flew, the force to project that thing out of the water has to be exponential.

...and I'm already at home and not at work so I refuse to calc that out! Wink

I've read every page here, and I haven't seen the possibility mentioned that, maybe, there's more than one monster attacking the platform. Not that it's overly important, but...

Have you ever tried throwing something out of water? It creates a giant "bump" in the water. It could just be a flaw in the production like the cell phone.

But yet again that is not important. The info just isnt there, there is no way in knowing

And, keep the discussion about the distress call, and where it came from going. That interests me, because just three days ago I said
"Since Tagruato sent a tanker to investingate, think we'll get a distress call from the tanker soon? Something like 'Something's following us?'"

Someone asked where would that distress call come from, and i said;

"Coast Guard, maybe?"

Don't know where that thread is, it was before The Great Restructuring, and I can't find it. Anybody remember that?

I also think this is important as this will at least give us confirmation of how the monster gets to New York. Any Japanese speakers, can you please take a listen to the Japanese news report again, paying special attention to the distress call and where it comes from?

The end of the first transmission from the distressed entity has something in Japanese. I'm guess thats the location or name of the vessel. I can clearly hear "This is the US Coast guard" bit, and the last part of the next disttress call is garbled.

The really significant part of this is the tanker and its connection, thats why I asked for a translation.

Is there one someone can link or post?

So, I'm pretty sure I see some tentacles. Anyone bring that up yet?

Well, considering that MGP is the size of a skyscraper, I would think he would be mighty strong.

You guys seriously think that there are survivors? You guys seriously think that Tagruato would want any survivors? The only people Tag would want to survive are the big-wigs and that's it. The workers didn't survive. You wanna know why they didn't say 300 dead workers- Think about where the news is getting this information: Tagruato. 300 dead workers doesn't look good on a company's history. 300 grunts are dead folks. Not that Tagruato intentionally released the monster to attack the Chuai Station, but they're not sad over the loss of their 'grunt workers'. They were probably gonna kill them anyways eventually... Retirement = Death. Look at Kazui Ichigawa.

I like your line of thinking, Sir... I mean... boy..

Well i would have to agree with this, sort of. I think the 'missing' workers have been taken somewhere, possibly finding out how much they know, killing, or brain wiping (or something) those who know. Or possibly killing the lot of them.

As for the debris flying into the air. Something I was mulling around was the idea that the monster can make some sort of shock wave, possibly thats what the 'roar' is. Both times things have flown into the air, have coincided with roars. Not sure how it would do it...

Well, modern submarines can fire missiles while submerged (not sure how far under though) so it is in the realm of possibility. Considering we're talking about a creature that is 400-600 ft tall (from previous estimates) and this is obviously fiction, I think that it is most definitely the monster shooting/throwing/blowing the debris out of the water.

I'm calculating the amount of force needed to propel those chunks of the platform from the water like that. Gimme a minute...
