In the Japanese video, the red dot is Chaui station - I believe the blue circle is the approximate location of the tanker when they lost contact with it.

I am pretty sure they are talking about the tanker coming to New York, from Norway and they believe the incident at Chuai is somehow related to the difficulties the tanker got into.

lets see.. the objects probably weigh around lets just say 100lbs. The force of gravity is 9.8 so it would take 980N in a frictionless environment just to lift it. Then you have to overcome the friction of water, i have to idea what its ForFriction is, and im pretty sure its doesnt really matter Rolling Eyes

i'm guessing here, but i'm pretty sure to thrust up those hunks of metal you need at least a few hundred pounds of thrust, if not 500 pounds, but then you have to add in the weight of the water...

again, just an eye watching guess

Are you kidding me? Thats why I brought this question up. The weight per cubic inch (Density) of steel is .2904 lbs. That girder easily was over a ton. 500 lbs of thrust is not going move that anywhere.

wait... why does any of this matter?

Someone transcribed the whole thing somewhere back in this thread.

In the Russian version you can read the whole thing.

I want to listen to the Korean video to see if it's in Korean or Japanese, but I am at work right now Sad
I will listen to it when I can.

Also, I want to have a friend listen to the 1st Japanese broadcast of what is being said about the people in the boat - I don't want to say what I think is said, because if I am wrong it will send people off in the wrong direction. I need to confirm with a friend first.

i said it was a guess, i'm not an engineer, and i said at least 500lb cause some of those things do look small enough to weigh less then a ton

I hate it too. I'm only 23 but I just feel too damn old to be saying "Mr. Grumpypants."

I'm the same age and I feel a little like someone's mother going "Now now now, you eat your brussle sprouts or you can forget about playing your Guitar Hero thingamajig, Mr. Grumpy Pants!"

That's an excellent point. Seems like with Rob's post, and these videos, they've acknowledged the loose ends in the story from what we've seen so far and went to a great length to tighten them.

You damn right. Even if our media is just playing this as a filler, "Fluff" story, you can bet this perked up the military.

Would explain why the planes in the trailer are F-18's, a Navy fighter. The Coast Guard releases a video they took, plus the distress call from the Tanker (I bet it's the tanker), then the National Guard on the the East Coast goes on alert, and the Navy parks a Carrier off the East coast on combat alert.

Maybe we'll start to get more U.S. news reports where they start taking this a little more seriously.

Ok lets see. One newton moves 1 Kg 1 m/s (roughly). The things are lets say...1000/2000 Kg? Maybe more. That means about 1000 Newtons. Those things are moving at about 10 meters a seconds, so thats around 10,000 Newtons. Thats not taking into account gravity and water/air resistance.

Its been ages since I did physics, so these could be well off.

Hey no picking on the MGP name I kinda hope it sticks even after the movie.

Anyways *looks for Kraker and his Trout Gun* We do have some clues to look into The French lady and the list of Names From the JP video SlushoAddict posted them a ways back but I can't seem to find them in this morass of post (heh never thought I'd get to use that word EVER)... And becuse its me and I have a odd sense of humor...

I would like to submit that the monster is indeed none other then....
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
GRAPE APE he drank 7 GRAPE flavored slushos and is now on a drug induced rampage and has squashed Mr Beagley into paste... Evidence to back this up ... all the major flavors are listed on the Slusho page but GRAPE and there is no purple slushobot so the missing flavor must be grape and therefore Grape ape.
And for those that need referance for the spoiler ((because I realize I am an Old Fart By internet standards Screwy and you guys won't get the referance)) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grape_Ape

For the largest chunks of debris, the force of drag the water would exert on the debris is ~400million Newtons. Therefore, MGP would have to project them up with that force until they exit the water. Or, assuming the roar is when they are initially shot up, the force would need to be closer to 500million N.
That's equivalent to the force released when a typical car hits a brick wall at 260,000 m/s (or 581,000 mph).

For the smaller bits, it would be about 1/4 or 1/5 of that, or so.

Ah...yeah.

That movie had some of the worst (and corniest!) lines I have ever heard in a movie.

Awesome...

But I gotta ask again. Other than to display your brilliance,

Why does ANY of that really matter?
