Maybe the seabed nectar is really a natural deep-sea field of Vicodin that MGP needs to tolerate his leg pain (which started when he was caught in a landslide a few years ago). But, now, the Vicodin supply is running out (or, perhaps, an evil MGP named Tritter has cut off his supply) and he's pissed. So, he's breaking everything in sight, trying to find more Vicodin, and NYC is just one stop on his way towards Princeton-Plainsboro where he senses he will hit the mother-load.
No, seriously.

Or, assuming the roar is when they are initially shot up, the force would need to be closer to 500million N.
That's equivalent to the force released when a typical car hits a brick wall at 260,000 m/s (or 581,000 mph).

For the smaller bits, it would be about 1/4 or 1/5 of that, or so.

Ah...yeah.

why the hell aren't you in my college math classes???!!!

Crazy theory, but if MGP is really chasing after the tanker, and there's something in it, why do we all think it's going to be DSI?

Scratch that, aside from DSI being delicious and a possible food source for MGP, but is it really worth it for something to chase a growing food source that it could easily obtain for 11 days?

Targruato is a very sketchy company. Military, a beverage, satellite, physicists, and oil drilling. That's quite a diverse company.

Now, hear me out on this one. What if Targruato found MGP? Well, that's a given, since Chuai just sunk, and the many hints dropped by TIDOWave and TWB, but what would they do with just the information of knowing that MGP exists? It's obviously too big and powerful for them to capture and use as a weapon. But MGP is a living thing, correct? What if they found some eggs, or better yet, MGP's young?

I want to continue with the egg theory. Say they found a batch of MGP's eggs. Maybe that's the ingredient in Slusho. Chuai has no oil, and obviously they need to get the secret ingredient somewhere. Maybe the ingredient is MGP eggs? A creature that size can't possibly have such tiny eggs, if what Jamie received was a clutch of them, but remember, lobsters, squid, octopus, etc. all come from VERY small eggs. Even if the ingredient for Slusho isn't eggs, the fact that Targruato can't catch MGP itself but decides to steal a clutch of eggs to hatch and raise themselves is enough to piss any parent off. One species of octopus would defend her clutch of eggs, up to the point of actually starving to death.

Now to deviate slightly from the eggs theory. Maybe they found MGP's young and kidnapped it? Again, any parent would be pissed that their DNA is being taken away. If you can't catch the giant itself, catch it while it's small, but try to make sure the parent doesn't notice.

Before you quickly dismiss it, may I remind you that even the mighty Godzilla (not Zilla, I know the difference thank you very much) did have young.

Just my theory. Trout me if you must.

Maybe I'm just hedging my bets now, but this tanker doesn't have to be the one from the trailer. In fact, the picture of the Hav Vind doesn't have Tagruato logo on it, does it? However, if the distress call was from the tanker and the tanker was between Chuai and NYC, perhaps that's still enough of a link to get the monster moving towards New York.

I could easily see that sound clip being a non mutated version of MGP!

A lot of people are talking about how much force it would take for MGP to throw and/or blow all that junk out of the water.

Well...I'm gonna go way out there and repeat a theory I posted in the early pages of this thread.

I think that MGP has some unnaturally powerful ablility (like Godzilla' breath).
This ability might be similar to Magneto from X-Men.
Perphaps he can create or project a strong magnetic field that allows him to fling objects without having to physically throw them.
He could use this ability destroy structures (like the Brooklyn Bridge) without having to grab/smash them.

Of course...he could just smash them also. Smile

From a physics POV, I think that's a reasonable theory. MGP must have some form of "super"powers in order to give that much force. But, can we tell, do all the things that get chucked contain metal?

On MGP Throwing things out of the water. Here's a theory from page 76:

Quote:

As for the debris flying into the air. Something I was mulling around was the idea that the monster can make some sort of shock wave, possibly thats what the 'roar' is. Both times things have flown into the air, have coincided with roars. Not sure how it would do it...

I like that idea. It's better than "blowholes". Perhaps the monster's roar is a frequency that produces a massive, localized shockwave. We did hear the roar at the beginning of the trailer, and the Tag Tanker was trashed in the harbor.

Then we hear the roar bfore/during the initial giant explosion, and we hear the roar before/during the ejection of the debris from the water.

I actually had an almost identical idea for a story of my own a little while back. Sounds plausible...I think it's the idea I like best so far.
