YOU DOWNER.
lol
yes they were, but really- I'm not freakin' out about that... I think they over-the-topped their budget on the movie... This was probably 'loose change' CGI.

I hope that there is no backstory for the monster or anything during the actual movie. It's just that people who played the game will have a more full picture of the events. And the people who didn't will just have a really good monster movie.

People won't be like WTF if there's no backstory because it's just footage from that night, plus, most monster movies don't give backstory.

Did anyone notice the odd wake in the spanish vid? You can see it at 14 seconds, its not there later on in the clips which makes it seem like its not formed by the currents.

I think its MGP, after being partially out of the water, About as wide as the rig and a bit longer.

The foam is what makes me think he surfaced and dived, which means the monster was just missed on the footage.

about the cgi, this isnt the movie, they probably didnt budget as much. Its quite expensive as it is to make all these different sets for the reporters

I hope the American video (If there is one) will be about 5 minutes long, four and a half minutes of it is a story about some fictional actress/singer/sports personality and the terrible problems they're having in their lives, then a 10 second:

"In International news, Japanese company, Tagruato, lost an oil platform today due to an undersea earthquake. Terrible. Now for SPORTS!!!"

CGI itself seemed ok, but it didn't seem to blend into the background perfectly.
We've already seen what the effects look like in the movie, so I woulnd't worry about that.

So I see not even fake media can be relied upon to be sure all their details are right. We've already seen that the Italians place Chuai differently than the Tagruato drilling map does. Now it seems the French want to get in on the fun too.

By the time the movie comes out, Chuai will have seen more of the Atlantic than Jacques Cousteau.

Edit: Technical note - it really really pisses me off that phpBB knocks off attachments if it gives you that stupid annoying prompt about someone else creating or deleting a post since you started making yours. Can't they just make things that work?

text in the news report

If we can get a clear shot if this frame, it will be easier to translate/read. im sure it is not in japanese, look closely, and you'll see the difference between this one and the close-up on the japanase version from the other news report.

There seems to be gunshots coming off the oil rig in the first minute in the spanish video. I don't know if it was said, alot of reading/catching up to do. They were shooting directly into the water. MGP was there.

I agree. The CGI wasn't that impressive. However, as stated by others, this is just the marketing campaign. We can't expect amazing graphics in such a place.

I agree, it looked pretty good to me. Much better than the crap the SciFi Channel puts out.
