No it wasn't.

I agree. The CGI wasn't that impressive. However, as stated by others, this is just the marketing campaign. We can't expect amazing graphics in such a place.

Besides, remember how the SOL's head looked in the first teaser trailer?

Could someone repost the pic of Leclerc's son?

Thank you very much! Very Happy

If Madame LeClerc is Janice, and she could be because The Green Bandit is French and may have sympathizers there who could put out something in a clip, then this is the pic she shows. Is there anything in this pic which could show something? It doesn't look like anything except her son.

I've watched the vid several times, don't need to see it any more.

It's debris from the station. No tentacles, no Lion, no MGP. The large building on the right falls off the station at an angle, bobs back up and drifts away

So to the American news agencies, Japan lost an oil platform due to an undersea earthquake. What effect will this have on us? Oil might go up 25 cents a barrel.

BACK TO BRITTANY!

It's Britney, bitch.

See, I care so much about her Jamie-Clone ass that I don't even know, or care how to spell her name!

She's gonna be anna nicole part 2, and the media won't notice a 300 foot monster untill it's here.

I agree, it looked pretty good to me. Much better than the crap the SciFi Channel puts out.

Exactly.

People are expecting to see CGI when they see stuff like this so if it does something they think doesn't look real, even though they've never experienced anything like it and have nothing to base that judgment on, they think it's bad CGI.

Not summarily. It just looks bad in general. From the moment the station appears. This is just a small segment anyways. It's not a big deal.
However, I think the station behind the fleeing boat was much better and more detailed. Perhaps since it was darker and we didn't see as much.

Yeah, it's be said before Smile

It's hard to work out what it is, but I think the French Dailymotion video has the best quality of it.

The rescue boat is viewing the station from a similar angle to the helicopter, so itcan't be that boat

Please look at the german clip, at 30 seconds to around 36 seconds - are we seeing MGP swimming away after the attack on the leg of the platform on that side of the station? He could have rammed it. Also, giant squids attack tentacles first.. maybe his whole body collides with the station. Check it and see, tell me what I'm seeing.

[edit] nevermind.. everyone else is all over it. Razz

It really does look fake, they used a very simple model for the deformation bit and its visible. I'm looking at a still right now where the ripple effect has been added twice and overlaps the station at parts, in fact the splashes hit the structure without reacting to it in any way at many points. Proper water simulations is extremely difficult and expensive.

I do see the gunshots talked about earlier, in the same bit I spotted the wake, mgp just *had* to have surfaced.

so anyone look at the spanish clip in the first 20 seconds and notice the shots fired from the oil rig into the water, and how the water looked around the oil rig?
