No, it's the boat. The boat's viewing it from that angle - they can see the lights on the roof of the grey bit, so that's the boat.

However, I would like to put forward to you MGP's advance, which I pulled after noticing the wakes in the Italian video.

First you have a wake here on the left at the beginning of the clip -

Then, just before the station collapses (and for a bit beforehand, but this was the first clear shot I got), no wake? Perhaps MGP was approaching from our left?

The lighting on the station didn't blend at all with the background.

But anyways, I did a screen capture of the monster swimming away. I'm going to put it in slow motion and upload it to youtube!

Can we officially kill the "Never was a Chuai station" now?????
Rolling Eyes

We have to keep the "It's an underwater station" thing going now though...

...because it is!

I don't wanna seem like a downer, but that was terrible CGI.

No it wasn't.

Show an example of what you think is good cgi.

I agree, it looked pretty good to me. Much better than the crap the SciFi Channel puts out.

Exactly.

People are expecting to see CGI when they see stuff like this so if it does something they think doesn't look real, even though they've never experienced anything like it and have nothing to base that judgment on, they think it's bad CGI.

It really does look fake, they used a very simple model for the deformation bit and its visible. I'm looking at a still right now where the ripple effect has been added twice and overlaps the station at parts, in fact the splashes hit the structure without reacting to it in any way at many points. Proper water simulations is extremely difficult and expensive.

I do see the gunshots talked about earlier, in the same bit I spotted the wake, mgp just *had* to have surfaced.

The helecopter scene does look kinda fake, but again, its REALLY hard to add decient CGI into a shakey-cam type scene... Granted they're already doing it in the film but, this is a 20 or so second long clip. The boat scene does look significantly better because you dont see the water, just the looming station behind it.

i think it was talked about in the first 10 pages here, not sure tho, i just remember seeing it in here, but more or less the consensus is its floating debris

My only argument with this is [and maybe i'm just having 'demon-hair syndrome' but:

When a vessel is sinking- debris doesn't float... It sinks with the ship
Anything around the sinking mass gets sucked under with it.
A bad, but true example can be found in the movie "Titanic" when the ship finally sinks and the main characters are swept up in the wake of it...

Janice didn't show those ones to us, though. I have a feeling that we're only going to be able to tell where Tidowave want to meet if we lighten up the picture of her son and find out what that series of lights is behind him (I think it's a landmark of some sort).

Or we're just clutching at straws and Madame Leclarc isn't "Janice".

^EDIT: Or that. After all, does anyone else other than me suspect The Farm is in the US?

Sorry, but -

IT'S THE BLOODY RESCUE BOAT!!! As I said a few posts ago -

Check the Spanish video at 1:54. The Italian video at around 1:20. I'm nearly 100% sure that black thing is the rescue boat.

Uh-oh, a new page so I think were due for another "Has anyone noticed the people shooting in the water" or the "Did you notice the thing swimming away" question.
