I don't know.. doesn't that make the mosnter a lot bigger than we had been thinking? (or maybe it jjust has huge eyes)

plus, at that very moment, the TOP of a building broke off. If MGP's head was level with the ground (again, unless he was VERY huge) he'd have to use his tail to do that.

You are right

Yes, but the eye is there just to increase the creepy factor in the viewers mind. MGP may not even have eyes...or he may have hundreds of em. It's just a big, menacing eye. It has been placed at the vanishing point of the frame, where our eyes are drawn to by established vectors.

Was there any mention of using weird cuckoo clock noises as sound effects in those interviews? I think that does resemble an eye. There could even be a little reflection of light in what could be the pupil area. Maybe they did an overlay of an eye in the smoke just for the hell of it. I don't think it is the monster's eye because if it was, that would put his head way too close to the ground IMO. That cuckoo sound didn't really make much sense either, but it was there.

I think I uploaded that sound isolated from the Dolby surround tracks in a thread before. It's actually sobbing, but in the cacophony it comes across a bit like a cuckoo.

Re: Here's the eye

I put a video up on YouTube back on December 8th and talked about this possible eye. I am NOT saying that it is the eye of our monster. Only that to me, in the version of the trailer that was released, that there looks to be an eye at the end of the street. We have seen how Bad Robot/Paramount has altered each trailer so we see different things each time. So there is no telling if the eye will be in the movie version. We'll see. If you want to take a look at my vid it is here...

Thanks for the video - btw, the Godzilla reference in the newspaper is the nickname of the baseball player Smile

Although my video is of crappy quality (a render from a flash animation in fact), I've said this from the beginning. The monster's head in the trailer is at ground level, looking down the street at our camera man and crew.

Reagan88 is correct in his video, I believe. I wish I had the time (and equipment) to make a real quality video like his timeline one to illustrate the point better.

If that is the eye, that would make the monster INSANELY huge. I mean, I know he's tall enough to like wipe out buildings, but think about it. If that were the eye of the monster, that would mean that only part of his face was shown in between those buildings--which doesn't account for the rest of his body--which would be like the size of Jupiter lol. I don't know though--it's an interesting image Smile

Wow, that was a very good video reagan88.
I see what you mean about the eye,
but I'd have to agree with CheshireCat_88.
An eye that big would make the monster bigger than
the glimpse that we've seen already.
But, taking a close look at the "eye"
it kind of resembles a fish eye.
o_O

But, I'm not sure what to think at this point.

godzilla

Just a point about the godzilla reference. I don't much care for sports but I do know that godzilla was a reference to that baseball player. My point was, and I need to make this 100% clear, that there are NO ACCIDENTS in this game. Let me say that one more time. There are NO ACCIDENTS in this game. They could have chosen any paper and/or cropped the paper 1/2 inch higher and chopped off the word godzilla. However, they chose that paper for a reason. This is not hard math. They control EVERYTHING pertaining to the marketing of information about this movie. You may chose to disregard any input you wish, or dismiss it as irrelevant. But you would be foolish to do so. The cumulative total of ALL input will provide the clearest picture of what is being fed to you. That's the game.

Great work reagan88....very thorough job.

I understand what you are saying regarding the creep factor in regards to the general feel of what the creators of this film are trying to get across to the viewership. The eye does indeed look like it was deliberately placed there in that frame(or 2). Again the feel when I noticed it was rather chilling for myself. So qudos to the creators of that scene! It worked.

To those of you who are responding with posts in this thread saying stuff like, I don't by that it's the monster's eye.....yada yada....please reREAD reagan88's first post in this thread and think first.

The More You Know.....

Peace.

I think the whole point of the post was, even if it is an eye, it's NOT the monster's eye. It's too big to be the eye of THE monster, but yes, it could be an image of some kind of eye, put in there to subliminaly creep us out.

Because I agree with starship and really don't want to do my work right now, I thought of things that "eye" could be.

Did you ever think there's a big freaking clock tower in that general area of NYC? If you think about it, as the tower is being tipped over the clock face would begin to get a slight elipsis or fish eye shape.

That's what I see.

My $.02
