[QUESTION] Australia

http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/intl/au/

bigger.... better..... first

why do they see it on the 17th, and not after the 18th? anybody?

and i know everybody saw that site before, but i think they added that tag line on top, and want to know if anyone has an answer to my question

Edit - Tagged - MikeyJ

i think they may just be boasting that they get it first with that tag and so gives them bragging rights...

and its one of the first after the int. date line (ooo chris hanson...) so if you think 1-17-08 as an american date, it'd be 1-18-08 over there, but that doesn't say ultimately why they get it first...

but i'm pretty sure this may get trouted, there was a thread before that had this in it where you can alter the address to put in your country and get the site but not all was up then

The reason as I understand it is because in Australia and I believe New Zealand the releases are on Thursdays. In the US you can arrange to have a release on any day, but in most cases it's a Friday with some on Wednesday. Other countries use different days. I don't know why AU and NZ have the fortune of being on Thursdays, but they should be happy with their luck.

Uh, if they get to see it at midnight their time on the 17th then it would be like, 9am on the 16th on the East Coast of the US.

As it's advertised on the Australian site as being on the 17th, that leads me to believe that they do indeed get it around 39 hours before anyone else does.

i said if it was considered an anerican date, so they get it on the 18th, that would make it about Noon-ish 1-17-08 in the states, i.e it'd still be released on the 18th there just be the 17th here

And like I said, it's the Australian site, why would they be going by American dates?

Especially since they'd have to wait until like, 7pm to show it going by your logic.

Which is a pretty pointless thing to say really considering that it's an Australian site.

Indeed, that is the case in my dear little country of New Zealand. While we get most movies after you guys (have to wait til our January 24 for Sweeney Todd, damnit), we release on Thursdays, so it means that some films we get nearly 2 days before anyone else - such as, in this case, Cloverfield.

I know I'm most likely going to see it on the first day it's released in NZ, so I'll be nice to you guys and not spoil it for you. Very Happy

Damn.

Here in PR all movies premiere on Thursdays, and 99% is always before the release date. But for Cloverfield we have to wait 'till the 24th Crying or Very sad

In mother Russia, you don't watch Mr. Grumpypants, Mr. Grumpypants watch you!
