I doubt the movie references to Apocalypse, because there were more side effects like grasshopper invasion, poisioning of rivers etc. In the movie we don't get any of it. (At least we know it from tralers/teaser)

The name of the movie you just described is called Akira so also not very original.

And the book of Revelation has a ton of stuff that they couldn't possibly fit into a 3 hour movie (it takes 7 years for pete's sake the first 1/2 of which are pretty boring). This movie is about "6 friends and the most surreal night of their lives" or something like that if I remember the tag-line correctly.

So maybe JJ was inspired by some of the imagery in Revelations, but it certainly ain't the book come to film.
