[META] MODS!!! please help us please!

the threads that are going nowhere such as the chuai video and the extremely old and probably earliest one should be locked . if this is possible please do so , so that we can get on to playing this game in real discussion and effort like we did up until like page 46 or so on the video thread. so please i urge you lock those threads and let them be reference only . we have way too many new people that are bringing up dead subjects and pointless things that are taking away from those of us who are trying to do this game the way it was before yesterday. after i read a post about lets break the record for longest post i just got pissed and then asked nicely to let it die much like mr.toasty did for the old ass thread that got dug up. ty for reading my rant and hopefully others will agree.

If the first thread is locked, I demand it to also be stickied. <_<

Rolling Eyes Look, just because you're frustrated with a few people who took to spamming the Chuai video thread with the tentacle theory and IG-OOG arguments about the American video, there's no reason to lock that one. The trailhead, maybe, but not the Chuai video one. As one person said in the Chuai video thread, wild speculation is the precursor to solid, serious speculation. You can't lock a thread because people are floating theories. It's silly.

Guys, I am so totally with you on the frustration with people constantly spouting off completely useless stuff in an effort to be first and/or loudest, but I think the mods here have enough on their plate with this movie's campaign already. Remember, a lot of us are (maybe temporary) guests in this community, and none of the other forums on UF seem to have the problems this one does: Which primarily comes from it being less an ARG forum and more a "fans of Cloverfield" forum.

It's tough, but I think we can manage ten more days of this. Once people see the movie, things will calm down.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, most forum mods and admins really hate being forced to take sides in a subjective argument like this. This might've been something best left to PMs.

are you blind? i mean really locking those threads is only logical because too many real conversation and good ideas are getting drowned in a sea of rehash and bullshit. so yes locking them will lead to more threads that maybe will be able to be understood and read by more than just those who are posting to create more spam!

I agree with Bacon Army and Clovefreaky on this one, I don't think locking threads because some people are absurd or ridiculous is the answer here. We get twenty new "I found a pic of the monster" threads every other day as is, locking threads won't help this, it will probably cause even more trout threads as people who try to search and post in an existing thread find them locked for no apparent reason.

i dont mean all the threads just honestly the old ones and the ones not going any further . the old as dirt one should be locked! the video one should be simply because its been going in circles for 50 or so pages.

what im saying is, whats wrong with a 500 page thread about 6 videos in 6 different languages? you would rather have 1 thread for each and 1 for comparison? you just arent making sense to me. people continue to have ideas.

besides, locked=forgotten

That's what these things tend to do of late, we haven't really had a "clue" to search out or decipher since the Tidowave hack of Tagruato's site. I don't know, by reading the first 20 pages or so of that thread you can get a pretty good idea of what's going on. Everyone has a theory and some are going to post them no matter what is done. Be it here or there or everywhere, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You can forget them locking any threads. As Rose has said MANY times, the mods will not lock a thread unless it violates the TOS of the site, and useless specualtion isnt a violation

what im saying is that a thread that big that has nothing new for 50 pages needs to die and no one will let it so it should be locked because its getting very stupid in it. nothing new from any of the videos and its all out there ideas that aren't going anywhere. we have a thread for the tanker and we should work on that for awhile. if a new piece of evidence is presented then make a thread on it. that thread is all spam and should go just like the old one someone thought would be fun to bring back.

If it's a 50 page thread that's stupid and going nowhere, then don't read it, and don't post in it. It's one thread. I think you'd rather have one thread contain all the stupid useless posts than 10, all actively at the top of the list. Don't feed the trolls. Heck, even if it's not a 'bad' thread, but you're just not interested in it, same thing - just don't read it; there's nothing saying you have to read every thread in the forum, ye know. This is how UF has always worked.

You know, in case you hadn't noticed, that thread is slowing down now, which a) opens it up for actual serious discussion after the adrenaline-fueled post binge everyone went on; and b) is recovering from ten-fifteen pages or so of people spamming by saying "lock this thread because I disagree and it's all just theories" over and over again. There's no reason to lock the thread, and so it should not be done.
