[Q] Some Guy Thinks He Sees The Monster's Eye From IMDB. We need help. I can't do what he says and take a screenshot because I'm on a slow Ubuntu PC now. This guy doesn't know how to take a screenshot.
I know the Unfiction folk are generally much smarter than the IMDB folk.
So can someone take a screenshot of what this guys says to do:
http://imdb.com/title/tt1060277/board/nest/94108402
Thanks!

I don't have to do a screen shot. Just go back and tell him... no.
And tell the rest of them, it's not a Lion. But it IS huge.

Here's the eye I put a video up on YouTube back on December 8th and talked about this possible eye. I am NOT saying that it is the eye of our monster. Only that to me, in the version of the trailer that was released, that there looks to be an eye at the end of the street. We have seen how Bad Robot/Paramount has altered each trailer so we see different things each time. So there is no telling if the eye will be in the movie version. We'll see. If you want to take a look at my vid it is here...

I do remember seeing that eye in your vid Reagan88, it would not surprise me if it was actually the eye of ol MGP, who said everything had to be hidden away?

Wow, awesome video, reagan86.
It's cool that you're a film teacher, too!
Alright, thanks for the help, guys.
Wait... I see the eye, too.

Wow, that's great stuff, did you do the one about the tube shaped things in the smoke too? Edit: yes you did. I still think there could be something in that, but some of it could be glare from the lights, so it's hard to tell.
In the widget clip, I think we see the original shot looking down the street, as the colours and lights seem to change after that for the rest of the clip. I hadn't put much thought into that, but after seeing your vid, it seems like they're still using the old effects when they come out of the door in the widget, before the cut happens.

It was stated in one of the interviews with Reeves or someone else on the project that there were no CGI effects of the monster when the teaser was made - so no eye would be in the teaser.

Was there any mention of using weird cuckoo clock noises as sound effects in those interviews? I think that does resemble an eye. There could even be a little reflection of light in what could be the pupil area. Maybe they did an overlay of an eye in the smoke just for the hell of it. I don't think it is the monster's eye because if it was, that would put his head way too close to the ground IMO. That cuckoo sound didn't really make much sense either, but it was there.

No. But it did resemble a demon though didn't it? I feel like looking at clouds now.

ok guys... It has long been a tradition to put things in movies, and yes, in trailers too that look LIKE something. It is a way to impact the viewer in an extremely subtle manner. Almost, but not technically, subliminal.
And keep this in mind... THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS. When it comes to movie making, especially when applying the "auteur" theory, it is integral to storytelling to control every element the viewer will see. There can not be, therefore, an element that does not belong.
For example: Take a look at The Apartment, a great movie made in 1960 and directed by Billy Wilder. When Jack Lemmon's character (Bud) starts to fall in love with Shirley McLain's character (Fran), there are hearts everywhere. Are they right out there in the open for everyone to see? No. But look closely and you will find them, in the architecture, the carpet...take a look at the chair Bud is leaning on when he realizes that it is Love. There is a huge heart pattern in the structure of that chair. And when their budding relationship hits a snag and doubt arise, guess what we see... upside down hearts. Look at the pattern in the headpiece right above Fran's head.
Placing mental cues (not clues) in movies is not new gentlemen. If there looks to be a giant eye at the end of a street where a monster might be, then guess what? It might be an eye. Is it supposed to be the eye of MGP? Probably not. But is it supposed to scare us on a very subtle level? Most likely. That is why I pointed it out in my video. I am not in the business of chasing shadows. I have no time for it. When I do, however, recognize movie making tactics employed expertly I like to acknowledge it. Good filmmakers, especially the auteurs, use lots of methods to tell their stories. Some are obvious and some are not. Got it? Or am I being too subtle?
