Location: kentucky?

i could be wrong but i believe they've been updating the blog every other day (or only on even numbered days to be a little more specific). I'm expecting something tomorrow....of course it could be contingent on us solving the puzzle...

New letter at anna's site at Dyson. Project: Centurion, and it looks awfully familiar.

That's nothing new, it's been there.

I've tried all kinds of stuff to no avail.
If there are four locations, I can't seem to make anything come together as far as coordinates that would be limited to the U.S.

Working on it as a substitution cipher...

In groups of three

In case anyone else wants to try their favorite substitution tools on it.

Hi Everybody,

I tried to post as a guest but it didn't go up so I thought I might as well join the forum.

Anyway, I'd just like to say that I made a mock up of the punch cards to see if the holes correspond over each other.
What I found is that when two cards, one is placed on top of the other, and the X's are aligned, usually one of the holes match up, but never more than four.

That is with the different combo's, the number of matching holes are 1, 2, 3 or four, there are however two instances of zero.

Anyway, it might be nothing but I will keep trying different combos.

This Came to me Last Night...

Shouldn't there be other logins to the secure area of the Dyson site? At the very least, shouldn't Frank have a login and, if so, might it reveal something other than Anna's?

So far, I'm stuck there. Anna's password doesn't work for Frank, but I'm assuming his username format is the same as Anna's...

Also...

Once we have the (four?) camera locations solved, we have no clue what to do with it. (Other than post it here, of course)...

I'm sure that if and when that happens, anna will just happen to be one step ahead of us and will probably pick them up for us. In any case, that's a ways off yet. We still don't even know what kind of data we're looking for with these.

True, but the fact that we know these cards represent locations should help us narrow down the possibilities...

1. They're location names
2. They're Longitude, Latitude coordinates
3. They're GPS coordinates
4. .... (something I'm sure I'm forgetting...).

There are only so many ways to communicate a location that anyone could understand... (so I'd assume they're not private code names for the locations...).

Can anyone think of other ways to tell someone a specific location?

Shoot me down in flames if you will, but it's my first post in this topic and I guess it's worth a try.

When I saw those punchcards, the first thing I thought was 'guitar tabs' - anyone with a guitar feel like giving it a go? My one's at home, where I ain't right now. The 'X' generally means 'don't play this string' or 'rest your finger over this string' in tabs...

Of course, if you don't think that's right, don't worry about it, just ignore my ramblings.

Hey g.o.c. .. I don't think anyone would shoot any good idea at this point (or ever, really).

As for guitar tabs... It's as plausible as any other idea.

The only reason(s) against it would be:

1) Even with a ten string guitar we'd have such a limited number of letters that, even with substituting numbers for the letters, we couldn't necessarily retrieve a lot of info...

2) On first thought, why would fret numbers matter? The letter of the "string" would still be the same...

Now, having said that....

What if the "fret" numbers were actually telling us the number of rotations to change the e "string" say to the correct letter? This could work all the way up to ROT-25... (ROT-26, really) After that and we get something redundant...

I tried this out on the blue "tabs" and didn't really get anything... but the possibilities increase if we try this with the overlaid cards...

So, even though I said guitar tabs would give us any real information, I've just posited a way that it could...

In the end, your idea isn't that silly.

(Here I go talking in circles again...)

Thanks for giving it a go - note that there are thirty lines on each of the cards, giving us five chords each. It's eleven across, which corresponds to the number of frets in an octave on the guitar...

A lot of them are '7' chords, including one reading of (I think) the second one, which goes

dmaj7
A7
c#m7
bm7
e7.

Like I say, worth a try?

Looks like you're definitely on to something with the chords.
http://www.guitaralliance.com/images/openchords.gif
Here are the ones I could find.
Still looking for the ones with question marks.

Code:
|C  |CM7|?  |CM7|?  |
|?  |G  |?  |-  |-  |
|DM7|AM7|?  |?  |-  |
|Am |?  |Am |A7 |-  |

I'm a little slow, here with the game on and all.
Just noticed the 2nd chord on the last page has a couple of 7s that I don't know what to do with.

It would rule if this turned out to be a Hendrix song! Although I really don't think any of his had City names, but hey. 'Purple Haze' really wouldn't help us, but it would still be epic.

Also I have no idea how you could convert those into coordinates or anything of the like, but it was a valiant effort none less.

This is my first ARG experience. I hope that this isn't just noise but...

Has anyone else noticed that the superposition of all the punch cards looks like a gaussian curve? Almost perfectly.

Without numerical data though, it isn't possible to determine what it might correspond to.

Also, this approach of interpreting the data groups it into a single set. This seems to be a step in the wrong direction since it's already given to us that the four sets should indicate four locations.

Just brainstorming. Smile

and P.S. really impressed by what you guys have figured out so far.
