Ok, here's what I got from them:

Quote:
Someone wants to send you a message.

Go to Security Trust of Los Angeles, point the device at box A117 inside the bank vault. It has steel walls that can withstand a severe nuclear blast with an estimated yield of around 50 megatons. Take a photo with the device.

Send us your coordinates where the photo was taken.

Send the photo to Enitech and tell them to process it.

Let's see what develops.

Do you plan on going? If so when?

Do you really think that they will just let you into the vault with a camera? Hmmm...

This appears to be what they mean:

Nice assignment, though I wonder how that's going to work...

I know at my bank you have to present your ID and safety deposit box key before they take you into the vault... I guess security's a little lax at that bank...

Though (spoilered for those who haven't watched the pilot)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you've watched the first episode of the series you'll know that the vault was built by a resistance member, an engineer, who was sent back. The vault they went into in the episode had an awesome weapon and a time machine, so this one should have something fairly interesting...

I guess, in-game, the assumption is that these cameras take seemingly normal pictures, but are also able to record tachyons... But you can't see the tachyon image unless you process the original picture.

That would also explain why it takes them some time to show us new pics. (come to think of it I think I recall Dr. Bentley mentioning something about the photos' having to be processed in one of the videos...).

SPEC: the cameras are equipped with some form of data transfer system, so pictures taken it with it can be coupled with a tachyon processor elsewhere to see the future. Or something along the lines of some tachyon beacon that if they have the coordinates, they can home in on it and somehow get a tachyon photo of that location.
The cameras = tachyon transmitters to a central device/processor/network?

Assuming it's legit.

eta: jlr, good spec =)

Man, that is the tough thing. I hate to speculate all of this and we aren't positive.

Now I really don't understand why they'd need that info. Seeing as how they told you where to go and what to take a photo of, they should know the coordinates already...

That is, unless they need a temporal coordinate...

Well, what if the tachyons aren't from a natural source... so for the photos to work, someone from the future has to use a tachyon generator at the exact time/location coordinates so that the camera *here* can pick up the photo....

Obvious speculation on my part, but it would (again) explain why they'd need exact coordinates of what you were taking a photo of...

Of course, it doesn't fully explain how Enitech has been taking their pictures...

Unless... (spoilered again, for those who haven't seen the pilot episodes)...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We know that resistance cells have been coming back and operating in our time... If one of the future engineers was actually working for Enitech, it'd be easy for him or her to help Frank "reverse engineer" the tachyon camera... Then, that person could always control what and where pictures were taken... Especially if he/she is alive 1191 days in the future, then he/she could be operating the tachyon generator... assuming there is one...

that's all I have for now...

Yeah, there are a handful of folks who work for Enitech that we haven't heard much from or seen. I really like the spec

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that one of the employees is a resistance fighter sent back to make the stuff. Like in the pilot, all of the stuff in the vault she said was made by someone from the resistance who went back to develop it.

Very good spec jlr

"Alex" might be a new IG character who "found" a camera in Tokyo much in the way we found ones in NYC and CA. The original camera did say that the 4 "pads" were for other cameras IN THE US... there may be (IG and not "real") other cameras in other countries, and these pics were showing the catastrophe isn't just limited to the US.

The problem though is that the device they have is based on technology they've researched. The 4 cameras are only 4 cameras - we know they don't take the same pictures the tachyon camera takes (we can obviously test that, and they look nothing like the tachyon camera).

I don't think that's necessarily true - in the video where Anna is at the original site where the first camera was found over a year ago (and before she was attacked by "Cromartie"), she was holding a camera that appeared to be exactly like the ones Steve and "Bill/Zoltar" have.

Both of these were EXACTLY what I was thinking earlier! Knew I shoulda posted... Very Happy

Box A117?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the pilot, that's the same box they opened to find the keys to the other boxes!
It was registered to an "E. Boykins".
E. for Engineer?

Hold on...

Just taking a picture of an inanimate, persistent object might not yield anything... Just go back to some of the spec conversations people had about taking pictures of trees, and what not.... (yes, I know a tree is technically an animate object)...

Unless the deposit box's door is torn off in the future, or the whole vault isn't even there, wouldn't the future picture kind of show what we're seeing now?

Obviously a future person could graffiti a message on the vault's wall as a warning to us... but more than likely it's not what's in the box that we should be concerned with, but rather what will be happening around, outside of it...

I don't live in LA, but I've looked online and there's no exact Security Trust of Los Angeles that I've been able to find. Actually, consider this: when Sarah Connor and company time-traveled to 2007, the bank had been torn down and replaced by a freeway.

Yes, the blog stated that it took 17 hours to process the high resolution shot of downtown SF.

So, if vpisteve were to go to the site, all he'd find is the 105 freeway?

I can only guess. Presumably, the individual sending the message does not know that the bank has been destroyed. I'd have to watch the episode again in order to determine for certain, which I don't have access to.
