Be extremely careful... you are now intercepting a SkyNet mission process.

Since we are tracking Terminators... it looks like whoever goes might run into one? I wonder how THAT will play out...

You go there, find the bulletin board, and then some guy grabs you from behind and turns you around. He's got the whole "I'm mugging you and then going skiing later, right after my chemical weapons exposure training" getup. You pull out your tazer, and he drops out of character saying "Don't taze me, bro!" You taze him anyways. Then you tear off one of the slips of paper with the phone number on it and leave.

In the unlikely scenario that it was a terminator, the tazer would short him out, or at least give you a few precious seconds to start running.

That would be AWESOME, especially if he sounded the exact same as the guy in the video.

What I wonder is did they *expect* us to decompile it and ask about that address? Most PMs frown on that (I've been reprimanded once already).

I wouldn't worry about it. We pretty much effectively agree that anything you get is free game. Flash decompiling should be taken into account by the PMs, especially if it breaks suspension of disbelief (answers clearly available in code, especially if the script implies some other method of getting to the answer). Good PMs will realize that. 42 obscurs their flash code so decompilng produces nothing intelligible. Other games have put red herrings in flash code to throw people off, or little "uh-uh" type messages.

They have to realize by now that flash -will- be decompiled.

However, that said, one does need to weigh the benefits of decompiling given the style/quality of gameplay. If it's obvious that decompiling would 'ruin' the game for some people or the PMs, then proceed with caution, IMO. (I'd decompled BlueCom earlier and found the images, but opted to not post just to focus on the puzzle, and since the answer didn't effectively lead to anything new at the point - the coffeeshop coordinates)

It's hard to tell here, I think, if they intended us to decompile. If they did, then somehow BlueCom changes its algorithm once we did (though supposedly still parsing he SkyNet neural net diagram). If they didn't, then the content was either a mistake (the real answer was supposed to be in there, or someone did in fact upload a test/pre-release version of the flash object), or we were supposed to be asking about locations to get gps coordinates - assuming we had made the Terminator connections.

If we'd made that connection at the beginning, all these pages would have been moot Razz We'd have 5 coords, would have triggered Anna's plot point, and we'd then have had all 6 locations much earlier.

blah. =)

As it looks right now, I'm guessing Rogi will have to be the one to go and retrieve whatever is at the location, unless Zoltan got there first, or someone else did, and hasn't posted.

if they do another in-game pickup like Zoltan's, there will be people who will be p!ssed off

I have a theory. It goes something like this: whoever will go to this place will somehow get really close to this, since they seem fairly close in location, unless I'm off my rocker.

Well, as you can tell, I don't think I even mentioned the images. Smile

I decompile in order to understand how it works, in the hope that it makes it easier to come up with the path to the answer. I don't do it to circumvent the answer.

Of course, it could be that the coffee shop was the intended "deaddrop" in the first place, but since we decompiled it they decided to make it harder by making the Flash function differently and (a) in such a way that they control the result directly, and (b) in such a way that we're forced to play out the plot point.

So as it stands now the nearest board visitor we got is Rogi Ocnorb, who is 2+ hours away.

I have someone in the area, I think, who knows absolutely nothing about what's going on (he's probably reading this now). No guarantees, though.

Come on, nobody in the Bay Area?!?

Do we have any evidence that it was meant to work that way? Maybe they made up that method so that it's easier to justify the result they described, and there was never a physical camera to be gotten by us common folk in the first place.

My boss is in SF right now, but I don't think she'd understand if I asked her to go after a drop. Then again, if there is a good chance of her running into a T-888... Very Happy

Turns out the closest person I know is in San Diego, *only* nine hours away...

Anyway, sent a message to The Resistance:

Quote:
We've already deciphered it. We know where we have to
go, but we seem to be having difficulty finding operatives near that
location; it might take too long for us to retrieve whatever that may
be.

Is there hope of an alternate location that may be nearer to one of
our known operatives?

I mean, the way I see it, if they moved the deaddrop once already (I'm convinced that they did; why would they have GPS coordinates of a COFFEE SHOP anyway?), they might move it again. Very Happy

I have someone with contacts in the bay area

Maradydd, my old compatriot from Looking for AV, is in Europe right now. However, she normally lives in the Bay Area, and might be able to get someone to run over and do a pickup. She herself won't be getting back to the states until the 20th, unfortunately.
