Experiment??
There have been so many theories about what the monster is, most recently that it is Jamie (morons...) but what if the monster is some failed experiment of Tag's? I'm not saying that it is Teddy but in the video where Jamie gets the tape and the DSI he says that they found him, right? What if he was caught and instead of simply killing him they did some crazy experiment on him? This would explain his want to come to NYC to find Jamie (albeit a stupid reason but one nonetheless).

Although it is now likely that they will just say he died in Chuai, what if the Chuai station is where the experimenting goes on and now Tag's most vile creation is on the loose.

Now sometime ago on youtube, there was a guy who claimed that the monster was none other then the island of manhattan itself. Now I don't believe this theory at all but in that video he did show a clip of a tentacle coming across one of the buildings very quickly. He stopped the video and zoomed in. Clearly it did show a tentacle. At this point it would appear that the video has been removed altogether. My point is that this video would also confirm the presence of at least 1 tentacle, which I believed to be present in at least the "American" (God I hate Jamie) version of the Chuai news update. (If anyone else saw that please post to make sure im not crazy Confused )

Now some of you have decided that it is not a tentacle at all, but just water. However I urge you naysayers out there to look at the video one last time. From 18 sec on. Now at this point it will show the station from the heli view from far away. at 21 sec the camera zooms in on the station. From second 24 to 26 if you look behind the station to the right in the water, there is clearly some foreign thing moving TOWARDs the station. Now at 27 the station is crooked as the two front "legs" of the station seem to split apart. At 29 sec on the right front leg something definitley comes out of the water and wraps around the leg.

This would mean that the creature swam underneath and in between those supports. The sheer mass of the creature climbing between the supports made them bend outward and as he swims underneath he uses his tentacles to continue bringing it down, into the ocean.

Any thoughts?

 		What if the Cloverfield monster is a terrorist attack. I know that it had been discussed about the interpretation of the movie for a terrorist attack, but what if it is. Or what if it is a Japanese military project gone wrong.

What if Tagruato is working for the Japanese government. They thought they could control this beast and now it is out of control. That's why Tagruato has ninjas and that's why Tidowave thinks they are up to something. The monster is attracted to the deep sea nectar and that's why it follows the ship to New York.

The idea that they just happened to drill into this thing's home seems ridiculous. The massive size of the ocean and they pick the one spot that this thing lives? Tagruato either knew it was there or grew it there. The common thought is that the monsters in movies are accidents that happen when iguanas are living near former radiation sites from nuclear tests. But what if they were man made weapons of mass destruction.

Thoughts?

 		Already posted this in another thread though, and I don't feel like starting a thread of my own.

Maybe the DSI is some kind of organism that is being bred by tagruato in a very controlled environment and the TIDOwave people have sabotaged one of the "breeding stations", releasing some into the ocean, where it grew to it's full potential (being a huge angry monster)...

What I'm saying is that the DSI as it's been known for many years is just the early stage of the organism, manipulated/killed/whatever to prevent further development...

Tagruato states in one of the newscasts that TIDOwave has, in fact, already caused damage in the past...

Anyone???

Noriko Yoshida is the monster....it wasn't that she was never heard from again - she found the DSI and consumed it like crazy thus began transforming into some gargantuan half whale/half freakshow monster.

Her son, Ganu - delving into science and deep sea research tried to figure out how to save the b*tch from her fate but, his own greed leads him to profit from the same addictive ingredient that screwed his mom over - all the while keeping her & the effects of ingredient under tight security Evil or Very Mad ...

Now, she's pissed and on the loose. Shocked

Whatever the case may be - the monster may possibly have a whale's head. The "Happy Talk" section of Slusho.jp quotes something about a toothbrush for the door...door=entrance=mouth, toothbrush=baleen.

Had to ramble somewhere - so there ya go.

I seen this also. There are so many hints, ex: what you mentioned, the similarity between a whale's tone and the monster roar, the whale on TAG's site, etc, etc, etc.

I can almost guarantee that this thing is part whale of some sort.
