[REF] Release dates around the world

DON'T FLAME ME IF THIS IS ALREADY POSTED. I DIDN'T SEE IT ANYWHERE.

Here are the IMDB.com's realease dates for this movie around the world.

Australia 17 January 2008
USA 18 January 2008
Belgium 23 January 2008
Estonia 25 January 2008
Iceland 25 January 2008
Mexico 25 January 2008
Argentina 31 January 2008
Germany 31 January 2008
Spain 1 February 2008
UK 1 February 2008
France 6 February 2008
Netherlands 7 February 2008
Sweden 8 February 2008
Chile 21 February 2008
Norway 22 February 2008
Turkey 21 March 2008

France was the only one that brought up a new website.
Did anyone else have any luck with the other ones?

There is some question as to the accuracy of some of the dates that IMDB lists. I mention one here.
I suggest you cite any corroborations you can find for the dates shown, as such information becomes available. I found that the Paramount International site's links to the other countries' sites will help greatly in establishing official dates for release. As an example the UK date is corroborated by the UK site.

**SIGH**

Whatever. Is anyone allowed to say ANYTHING that isn't treated suspiciously and that doesn't have to be defended to the smallest atom? Does everything that everyone says have to be crapped on? Or does everyone just get off on causing petty bickering over tiny details?

The fact that Paramount's Belgium link takes you to the Netherlands site does not mean the Belgium release date is wrong - only that someone at Paramount screwed up by setting Belium's link to the wrong site. Therefore there is no valid reason to doubt IMBD's release date list UNLESS someone can come up with proof that the dates are WRONG. There is really no need to question IMDB.com here, except just to be irritating and contentious.
Simple logic and Akum's Razor.

This wasn't meant to flame you at all. I'd just like to see something definitive on these release dates, because people would like to be able to come here and find that information. It'd be nice of us to give them accurate information.

I suspect an entire nation of Belgians would object to being misled. Laughing
I don't think it's a mistake at all, because Paramount probably handles the relatively small Belgium as a part of it's operations in the much larger neighboring Netherlands. Half of Belgium speaks Dutch after all.

BTW, add: Chile 21 February 2008 (see here)

the date for germany is confirmed by all major cinema brands like kinopolis, cinemaxx, cinestar

interesting is that the film is now "named" as

'Untitled J. J. Abrams Project'

it was always declared as paramount sci fi movie by the producers of lost blablabla

"project" is even spelled with c, what is not correct for the german language

so i phoned some of my friends i know they got somehow related to cinemas, selling popcorn or doing all this tech stuff, optical, sound ....

it is even named by that in the working schedules

for eg in the lists, where all the part time jobbers have to sign in.......
regarding at which day they want to work

so please check the major cinema companies in other european countries what title they are announcing and also check the release dates there

i still hope the name will be released at the end of the movie....
watching it Smile

I was doing just that trying to find a date for the New Zealand release. Their Paramount site is nice enough to provide links to all the cinema chains they use.

Another addition: Russia 21 February 2008 (see here)
I notice they list it as "Cloverfield"

They have a link for more details on the film -
you click it and you get a "title" and a blank page ...lol.

Not ready to pull the curtain just yet...

IMDb has a history of having fake pages, incorrect trivia and cast listings and erronious information due a lot to the fact that a lot of it's information is user submitted. Doubt in it is justified, as justified as doubting Wikipedia.

This topic is a 'wanted page' on the wiki.
The difference of the wiki is that items there are meant to be supported as objectively factual, meaning the release dates there should be confirmed (corroborated). Many of the dates listed in this thread CAN be corroborated, so those that can should be listed there.

Here's a chance for someone to add to our wiki.
Any takers?

I need to have a little gloat (sorry).

Through my business I met a couple of the Australian Paramount honchos today and have now secured for myself free tickets for the premiere of the movie in Sydney. Pretty stoked about that. Everyone else in the office had no idea about the movie and couldn't understand why I got so excited about it!

They couldn't confirm the opening date as they were at my offices but are going to let me know. Hopefully it will be 17 Jan as IMDB reports so will be one of the first in the world to see it.

Has made my day, nay made my year! Very Happy

I believe Australia is on the other side of the international dateline.

Jan 17 to you, is Jan 18 to United States... We will be seeing it on the same day me thinks
or do I have it the other way around??? Rolling Eyes
