Keeping tabs, but just got this anonymous e-mail:

Quote:
my boyfriend will KILL me if he finds out about this. thus the anonymous thing. kinda cheeky, actually...

anyway, so i got your emails off a \\\\\\\"private\\\\\\\" list that my boyfriend had in his guitar case. i went looking because a girl came into the club the other day looking for her brother. my boyfriend wasn\\\\\\\'t any help, even though i know he knows where this girl\\\\\\\'s brother is. i mean, they talk all the time- after the girl left, even. that\\\\\\\'s how i knew you know her. my boyfriend said he had your emails stashed.

i don\\\\\\\'t know why the girl\\\\\\\'s brother doesn\\\\\\\'t want to see her, i mean, she looked really upset. it was so sad!

i was hoping you could pass a message along to her. i can\\\\\\\'t tell her much because they\\\\\\\'ll know it was me that told (i\\\\\\\'m the only one who knows about SoM who isn\\\\\\\'t a musician, per se, and they\\\\\\\'re always suspecting me of something, the bastards), but she might be able to find him with this:

ATL CLST

and if one of these is actually your email, Simone, i really hope you get this all worked out.

ATL CLST - atlanta ???? (perhaps a theater?)

Good to see everyone hasn't left. Also got that email. Recognised it as soon as "guitar case" came up Laughing
Also, with the acronym SoM I'll take an educated guess that we're dealing with the "Society of Music"

Christian Life School of Theology? Founded in GA.

I'll check TM's calendar for dates/venues in GA. Closest I could find: 2/13/2008 Jim Bianco @ Eddie's Attic: Decatur, GA

New post at the VLN's blog:
Quote:
Amour Propre: A Villain's Plight
from V.L.N. by V.L.N.

This is getting annoying. My plans seem to be further and further away every time a turn a new corner. By this point I had hoped to have my plans gong in a resounding crescendo but it would appear as if I'm listening to muzak. And I'm not even in an elevator! That feebleminded dog-talker sure is taking her sweet old time. I need to get my hands on what she's after so I can figure out how to take my next step. I mean, I know what it is but I can't figure out how I'm going to be able to break the code until I have my hands on it. My patience is at its end and if I don't soon get it, I'm going to have to release my dog. And I can assure you, my hound is more than a match for Mr. Stapleton's!

That's interesting, a Sherlock Holmes reference. (Stapleton is the owner of the Hound of the Baskervilles.) So at least our villain is literate.

AD is also updated with a response to the noted VLN update, as well as some pushing on the "riddle." Ah dang it, I think I know. I'm an idiot for not catching up to this one quicker ...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Music is the common thread:
without it, would the world be dead?
Simple meter, simple rhyme -
melody throughout space and time.
Find me here and find me there
my music might be anywhere.

Tell me, what do you think of music? For research purposes...

SoM

As both AD and this blurb suggest, I'm looking here and there through the site to see if I find any related items.

ETA: I also think the calendar is some sort of code, as Editors played in Anaheim over the weekend, but that gig isn't on the calendar?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ETA2: And then I got s-m-r-t and realized that there was an email address, albeit a craigslist one, included in the listing. And so I emailed them with what I thought about music. Let's see what happens.

I sent off an email to that Craigslist entry, saying what I thought about music.
I even put the brunt of it into a little poem like they did Laughing
Good fun writing that one now Very Happy Hopefully it'll get me some kind of response from them. It's handy having to study poetry for English. Makes this kind of thing easier.
Still at least we know what the CLST bit is now. It was driving me nuts.

And here's the response:

Quote:
Well, Dave, I appreciate your response. It is invaluable to my research.

I, personally, think that music is very much what you say. I'm researching now because I believe there is a perfect combination of music that can, literally, bring peace to the world. The more I study, the closer I come.

So, thank you again.

SoM

The email address on the return quote is "societyofmusicSPLATgmail.com". Someone who's in contact with Simone want to pass that to her?

Google turns up a lot of Society FOR Music, but no Society OF Music. FOR seems more grammatically correct -- music itself cannot really form a society, can it?

I have a feeling that there's some sort of pass-phrase or something we're supposed to give to that email address. Maybe we should include a thing or two from previous puzzles?

AD updated yesterday and the answer to number six is

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Foo Fighters

for what it's worth.

I've also posted to Simone about the Atlanta Craigslist and the email address.

Riddle seven:

A Greek Swede, I was born with a name but I changed it twice: once for my love and once for my soul. I've worked with many people, musicians, artists and children. Throughout my career, though, it's the small kindnesses and love that have seem me through and so I devoted my life to something greater, saying "goodbye" to the spotlight.

... although evidently I'm the only one playing still. =]

Nah, I'm still here. I just don't post as often.
Anyway, at least this clue isn't as bad. Well, at first glance anyway.

Go for it.

I'm still following this one, too -- but I'm really hoping for some content beyond music puzzles.

Sorry for the double post, but it's been a few days. New puzzle:

I've seen the sun come up in Bangladesh, so why do I still cry?

Joan Baez, "Song of Bangladesh"

Quote:
Bangladesh, Bangladesh
Bangladesh, Bangladesh
When the sun sinks in the west
Die a million people of the Bangladesh

The story of Bangladesh
Is an ancient one again made fresh
By blind men who carry out commmands
Which flow out of the laws upon which nation stands
Which is to sacrifice a people for a land

Bangladesh, Bangladesh
Bangladesh, Bangladesh
When the sun sinks in the west
Die a million people of the Bangladesh

Once again we stand aside
And watch the families crucified
See a teenage mother's vacant eyes
As she watches her feeble baby try
To fight the monsoon rains and the cholera flies

And the students at the university
Asleep at night quite peacefully
The soldiers came and shot them in their beds
And terror took the dorm awakening shrieks of dread
And silent frozen forms and pillows drenched in red

Bangladesh, Bangladesh
Bangladesh, Bangladesh
When the sun sinks in the west
Die a million people of the Bangladesh

Did you read about the army officer's plea
For donor's blood? It was given willingly
By boys who took the needles in their veins
And from their bodies every drop of blood was drained
No time to comprehend and there was little pain

And so the story of Bangladesh
Is an ancient one again made fresh
By all who carry out commands
Which flow out of the laws upon which nations stand
Which say to sacrifice a people for a land

Bangladesh, Bangladesh
Bangladesh, Bangladesh
When the sun sinks in the west
Die a million people of the Bangladesh
