"Monsters from space"

Quote:
"Other prominent producers with irons in the fire include J.J. Abrams, a co-creator of "Lost," who produced the monsters-from-space flick "Cloverfield" Jan. 18 and directed the new "Star Trek" movie"

See, this "space monster" stuff keeps popping up everywhere. So either EVERY newspaper and magazine (and a few net sites) that have mentioned it's a "Space Monster Movie" are wrong...

Or it really IS a Space Monster Movie.

It's a monster movie for everyone who isn't following the viral, cuz I dunno how much back story they will get into with MGP. For those of us following the viral we may actually find out if MGP is an alien, an ancient creature or a mutation.

I suppose it's possible that JJA has been telling the media that it's about space monsters just to fk with us.
I wouldn't put it past him... Smile

I've seen several articles mentioning Space monster. I just don't have time to look them up.

The first one I remember is the Coney Island interview one, where they call it "a creature from space", the second one is the Russian poster that translates to "Extraterrestrial"

Cant believe im sayin it- but im starting to believe it is.

I've been thinkin about the fact that a deep sea creature 1.would not really have legs to walk on land (i could be wrong- i know crabs, but the trailer it looks like a bipedal thing)

2.would not have vocal chords to roar.

3.And would not have the ability to breath if its natural habitat is the lower levels of the sea.

4.And also would have little or no eyesight.

JJ's not a dumb man. He wouldnt just overlook all these facts.

Or as usual the news outlets are just basically copying each other one after another like the almost always do.
We've seen this many times before, and I need only mention two words - a name - to demonstrate how one piece of misinformation gets passed along.

Guys, just give in. Grumps is a space monster. And there will be smaller monsters, too. Probably also from space.

Well maybe you're all right. And are forgetting Tagruato has their hand in many ventures. Maybe they were working on some genetic experiment that involved space exploration.

Somehow I believe that will be the angle here.

I won't believe it until I see it. And if it's true, I will be very sad, unless it is an extremophile shot into space experiment that went horribly awry. Then, technically, the monster WAS from space, but not originally.

I was thinking something along the lines of this too.

Exactly. There's nothing to say Tagruato's spin off companies weren't working on something involving the extremophiles for example in space. Then maybe they bring back some of this stuff and a genetic disaster happens on Earth.

I'm willing to give the creators of this thing the benefit of the doubt. For the most part they've been smart about it. I dont see Abrams and Co going hackneyed material like some monster from planet Zeldar considering how he's done his work thus far.

The whole "Monster from space" thing just doesn't sit right with me. Of course I could be wrong.. but it just FEELS wrong after following this for so long and never having any indication that it was from space.
Signs just seem to point to a monster that came from the deep sea.

I think it's more the fact that i'd be disappointed if it were a space alien. Like we need another alien movie.

And didn't J.J say this was going to be an original monster for America, because we need our own monster?
I don't think a space alien would qualify as that.
