Would it make sense if all the myspace dates were in the future? How would you communicate with the characters?

Now you're grasping for straws. MySpace comments can be pre-dated, as I've shown in my previous post, which was your original argument: that posts can't be pre-dated. But obviously they can. So you just contradicted what you previously said.

If the film was indeed set in the present, why would there be a need for those MySpace pages? Why would Rob announce that he's leaving New York for Japan in January if he's really going to do it in May? You can also set the dates for your posts in the future. Now if the PM's were cognizant of the fact that you can pre-date things, my money's on them knowing you could post-date them too.

And what you're also doing is looking for excuses. I understand. Being a fan boy is all about defending your obsession, and you're giving it quite the valiant effort. But as it's been said by even JJ himself: THE ARG EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPLAINING THE FILM'S BACKSTORY. What about this don't you understand? If the film's backstory is pointing to these events taking place on January 18th, how then can you have said events happen in fucking May? [oops oh noez my language!]

I've been quite calm in the face of all these fake reviews, even when others were quick to get as hostile as I'm getting right now. But a man has his breaking points. Aside from Euchre, Dennis, the mods who deserve quite a bit of credit for putting up with you dipshits, Red Walrus and a few others, this forum's only purpose is for spreading rumors, making excuses on behalf of Bad Robot and trying to justify inconsistencies about a film that's using the net to explain what leads up to these events WHICH HAPPEN IN JANUARY.

Fuck it though. There's too many spoilers on this board already. I'll sit tight until the 18th. This movie, inconsistencies well acknowledged, will still be fucking exce-fucking-llent, motherfucker!

Dipshits???

Grow up.

From that description I pictured William Birkins dog form...

Anyway....after reading the production notes nothing seems to stray too far off the already stated facts. The dates are something we need confirmation on. There was also the issue of them saying it was around 25 stories tall but....size follies are very common so I can't really descredit that. Well, I remember hearing a few others(Kid Reviewer?) went to a preview yesterday so let's just wait and see until someone else sports a similar story. Until then I'll take it at face value.

(I'm glad if the monster is that weird...keeps it from being a Godzilla ripoff)

If that japanese guy running scene does happen....you know it's getting laughs.

The whole point of this campaign is to lead up to the release of the movie.
It's very simple, but causes obvious timeline problems.
Add a few months on to every date listed, and everything's ok again.

I agree....but it just seems like no matter how things go...there's always someone that just keeps going and going on about stuff regardless.

WOW! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Thanks LC, of course I couldn't hold back and read your review. I am now positive (if all is true, which I think it is) that this will be a kickass movie.

A couple questions:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The explosion at the party - do we ever find out what it was? Was it something thrown by MGP, or does he have the ability to shoot fireballs (love that one... doubt it, but love it).

The sound of the little guys - in the subway, when they say "do you hear that" or wahtever and there's that chattering that we've heard in the trailer, is that them?

The little guys in general - like someone said, do they fall off of MGP? Are there bunches of them on his back/body that are visible in some of the shots and they kind of jump off or get rubbed off or something?

That's it so far - but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

im kinda hoping that monster description is right, my friend and i were talking about what we think is going to be special about the monster, making bragging rights bets you could say.

he guessed he would be able to fly *dumb*

i guessed it would have more than 2 legs, and walk like a gorilla.

Oh, the innocence of youth.

One day, you'll meet a woman. Then you will understand.

First of all I'm 43 so there goes that argument and I've met plenty of women.
Next if you are saying you are in love one week and dumping her a week later that isn't a relationship, it's just a screwing around which doesn't lend a lot of credibility to the flashbacks and the saving the girl storyline. It just makes Rob look like a selfish dick.

Let me get the time line here.

Day 1 Screwing the gorgeous girl I love and everything is sweet.

Next day I need to change my life it sucks and things are going nowhere with the girl.

Update my resume check for job openings arrange interview.
Go to job interview which requires me to leave said girl and go to Japan.

10 days later screw that girl I'm going to Japan.

20 days after that half of NYC may be dead and my brother is but I'll go save this girl because she was a great lay.

B.S.

I'm calling a bluff. Cause unless the OP can Provide some sort of evidence (ticket, invite, Whatever.) I smell B.S.. 27 of her 38 posts have been on this topic. Meaning she's only posted a few times.

Uh Dude, it's only a game. I know we all have our breaking points but it is only a game. Step back and take a deep breath my friend. The tension is building the closer the film gets. We are all excited or we would not be here. If you do not like what others have to say and it makes you that angry then ignore them. Everyone has their own opinions but unfortunately they do not always match our own views. I do not know if any of this review is true or not nor do I know about a lot of other things everyone has speculated on but we will find out very soon. Those of us who were right will be proud and those of us who were wrong will just be wrong.

Oh for God's sake, he's a 27-year old, whom everyone expected to lead a brilliant fulfilling life, but who never really made it and didn't meet those expectations, is finally getting his shit together and getting a grip on his life, finally has a relationship with this girl he's always wanted, but his attitude changes cause some kind of friction ("Not the Rob I fell in love with blah blah"), they break up, in his rashness after the breakup decides that he should put his old lazy lifestyle (and NYC) behind him with a job, is stunned to find that it's in another country, and then a freaking giant monster attacks the city the night before he leaves, killing his friends and family.

He's faced with either: A) Escape now and ensure that he'll have the success so to get approval from the people who know him, but know that he could have done something to save a friend who he still may have feelings for, or, B) Go to help Beth, at least trying to do the right thing and make something good come out of a complete disaster.

Just one question.

How'd you get into the screening? I mean, I'm doubting you or anything, I'm just wondering why I wasn't invited. Laughing

hmm. well lc needs to get off her cellphone and stop fighting with heidi long enough to get back to this thread and answer our questions now.

also, if this is what the movie has turned out to be... how pitiful. all the secrecy over that? when i read that the actress of marlena had said the script covers were, like, bright red and people would bring them to and from her house i really expected something better than that. jeeez.

Considering the OP fit the entire movie into 3 paragraphs, I'm sure she left some stuff out.

I mean really, it's not like she can remember every detail.

wo, i think some people need to relax. people are getting way to crazy on this thread. o.k. so what if this is all B.S., in 8 days most of us are gonna see it anyway. it's not like that there hasn't been hundreds of other threads all claiming the same thing. take everything with a grain of salt, enjoy the ride, and come 1-18-08 we will see who was right and who wasn't. in reality though, if this person had actually seen it and posted all kinds of evidence like a ticket stub, pictures, or even video with abrams and the whole paramount crew in front of the movie screen with the movie actually running in the back ground with MGP staring you in the face. people would stilll doubt until they see the film. so no need getting all rustled up just because someone posted a spoiler and it doesn't live up to your expectations or comprehension.

thank you ladies and gentlemen. i'll be here all week.

I would be hesitant to believe anything that doesn't mention Greg Grunberg. Maybe his character was just a minuscule passerby, but how does he fit in to this?

You're right it could be some ridiculous convoluted explanation like that or let's see.....make the date of the video 3 months ago instead of 1, allowing for some time for things to happen. Sorry still B.S. .
