The whole thing sounds OK in terms of it's being 'realistic'...except for...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...the nuking of NYC. Nukes generate a powerful EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) that really messes up electronic equipment. There's no way that camera would still have an intact recording.

Yeah if this in fact is what the movie is like and that is what the monster looks like and is only 25 stories tall then I'll have to say, that's pretty disappointing.

25 stories is an EXTREME disappointment for me. If MGP isn't upward of 40, I'll be very upset.

Hmmm, interesting!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Do you know for sure that an EMP will erase a tape or hard drive? As far as I knew it only fried circuits.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
An EMP from a nuke can depolarize magnetic surfaces...so anything recorded on tape or hard-drive in the vicinity would be erased.

True, he is only a baby.

25 stories is over 300 feet tall and that is not small. (omg, I just sounded like Dr. Seuss). Godzilla is smaller than that.

Most especially a tape or a hard drive as they are magnetic. They would be total toast.

While I do think they could use very limited tactical nukes if MGP goes of shore I don't think they would blanket Manhattan with them. The major strike must come after they have tried targeted strikes and failed with conventional weapons. They then blanket the city with a whole series of large bombs.

The latest Godzilla isn't though:

Godzilla 2000: Millennium

As a direct sequel of the original movie, the Godzilla, 100 meters tall (328 feet) and 56,000 metric tons, depicted in Godzilla 2000: Millennium is the same Godzilla films seen previously.

Exciting!

But why would anybody be looking for anything (video camera) in a hot spot with radiation around. Even if it were a small nuke. Sending in someone or even troops, east coast fallout, no matter how you look at it would be immoral.

wow!!

i just talked to a dad at my son's school about tactical nukes about a month ago. he had just got back from the middle east right before thanksgiving. we were talking about the movie independence day and i was saying to him how close the stealth bomber was to the alien ship when it fired the nuke. i told him i thought it was kind of fake because there was no way it could have escaped the blast in time at that range. also the tank that was monitoring the impact would have been shut down because of the EMP, so there was no way for it to report back let alone send video feed. he told me tactical nukes work diffrent than regular nukes and that destruction is not widespread and the EMP was very little if any. so i think that if the were caught in the strike, it would probable depend on how close the warhead was.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's interesting that neither Tagruato or TIDO was mentioned during the movie... I would hope that the ARG/ARE (whatever) would sort of 'close the loop' and explain where MGP came from if the movie doesn't... and answer all the questions the movie fails to. At least that's what I hope the purpose of the game was if we are hunting down clues that are ultimately, irrelevant to the movie, except to give someone silly insights on relationships, etc.

Anyway, I'm gunning for the PMs to give us a nice treat for following along all these months, by giving us the information that will really give the movie substance and background.. where did MGP come from? What does Slusho have to do with it all, or the DSI in particular... etc.

If they don't answer those things before Friday the 18th, I'll be pissed.

I said it from the very beginning.....

That neither would have any sort of appearance/affect on the movie.
It'd be stupid if they did. Good for the ARE though.

As far a a "nice treat"....if this is truely just viral marketing, which I believe it is....don't expect one. Expect this thing to TOTALLY wrapup as soon as the movie is released. Enjoy it while ya can I guess.
