I tend to think this is a legit review.
Why would she/he even put that part about the dates in it, knowing it would flip people out?

Um.... is that how the Cloverfield monster was conceived? Shocked

OMG, I nearly sprayed my tea all over the monitor when I saw this picture. LOL!!! Godzilla rape.

That's funnier than shit. I'm going to steal that picture.

As for the review...

I can't see how you can just say it's BS... you'll feel like a big dork when you go to see it and it's exactly as they said.

I think it's possible this is the real thing. If it is, I want to see it. Descriptions of MGP aside, I just can't really picture the stompy guy. Sounds goofy, I hope not.

Would anyone else be disturbed if they looked out the window and saw that?

Re: Reeves talks about the "date"

Regarding the date. From IESB's interview of Matt Reeves:

IESB: The date had played such a huge role in the advertising. Is it true that if you to see this on the day it comes out, 1-18-08, the date in the film is actually that date as well?

Reeves: No, that's not true. The date has become because, again, we didn't have the title in the teaser and so that was a way of letting people know what it was. I think the two ways people referred to the movie where by its codename, Cloverfield, because there was knowledge of that, and just by the date. The reveal is really what happens in the story and the way it unfolds and the sort of mysteries in that world. The date is just the date we come out and when everyone gets to see the movie.

I think you have to take the approach that while the events leading up to the attack probably occur in real time, it does not follow a specific month by month timeline. The lives of these (fictional characters in this fictional story) occur in an alternate reality, but follow the same rules of time (a day is day, week is a week)…just not specific dates. If you look over the My Space comments and other IG sites, there is rarely reference to an actual date…no "Happy Birthday" messages when it's someone's birthday, nothing about Christmas, etc.

Oh and btw, get over it everyone, this most likely a legit review….nothing to indicate its fake…while its going to be difficult to prove it 100%...the preponderance of evidence suggests this is real.

Well as someone who lived in New York City for four years I would think that many ppl would normally have that question...even when it is not snowing in Jan (which it did my 4 years there) it was darn cold. Cold enough to see your breath and turn your nose red. And definitely too cold at night to be running around in the clothes that the girls in this movie do.

So yes I believe most of the eastern seaboard and anyone who has ever visited New York in January would be asking, at the very least, "Where are their jackets and gloves?"

And that outweighs the 2 dozen pplin here saying, "May...WTF?"

I'm not saying the time continuity thing discredits this review, but it does blow all to shit the idea that JJ is a genius. This entire ARE/ARG/Virual is pure bullshit if the timelines don't match up. They certainly are Alternate Reality from each other!!! This isn't Pulp Fiction where the story is getting told out of sequence. Will I still want to watch cloverfield? Maybe, but finding out that the characters who posted those myspaces, may/may not have died on Chuai, and who posted freaky "love videos" to eachother are basically no in the movie at all is really a HUGE let down.

Tagruato, TIDOwave, DSN, Slusho not being in the film (except barely a cameo of slusho) is also retarded. I'm not saying Ganu had to go out and kill the monster while chugging a slusho and being chased by TIDO Ninjas doing hate-dances. But throw us a friggen bone here. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay more entertained by watching Powerthirst fake commercials than that stupid cryptic moose infested Slusho fake commercial. For Pete's sake this "ARE/ARG/Viral" could just as easily have been for Alias, cause at least there Slusho exists.

I'm basically 50/50 on whether or not the review is true though Smile

I live in New Jersey not even an hour away from NYC and the other day it was 70 degrees out. So, sometimes we just have some freaky weather.

Wow. 15 pages.

Where to start?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

As for inconsistencies with time, I completely agree that it's flawed there would be so much emphasis on 1/18/08 and the movie would say otherwise.

The name "cloverfield" IS NOT explained.
The "this is gonna be the best night ever" or whatever the line is, is also NOT in the movie (although that guy is in the movie).

I certainly didn't see any tentacles, although my girlfriend thinks she did. I think she mistook the tail as a tentacle.

The quantity of large monsters is debatable.
Here's why:
After the helicopter/B-1 bombing scene, crash, bla bla, Hud/Beth/Rob come out of the heli debris to which they find the monster standing over them, well, Hud in particular. This monster has these red, puffy, lung-like things on it's head (which is unseen in previous monster encounters).
This is a really good close-upshot of the monsters face. There's another really good close up of the monsters face when the army comes in probably 45 min into the film.

Also, there is no temperature reading on the first news prompt (I remember specifically looking).

I gotta catch up on these questions, also, I'm not online most of the time, so if I'm gone, I'll be back on here later tonight (Los angeles time) approx. midnight or so.
