thanks for the info! i feel bad reading the spoilers after all this time spent waiting but considering that nothing from the online game is even really in the movie makes it alright.
i can sleep soundly now (i've been chugging coffee to stay awake, hoping that someone would get back on the board after the screening).
thanks again!

Sigh... Hmm some nice little tid-bits for us thanks. I'm glad you phrased them in a way that gave us the "juicy" details that most have been eager for but in a way that wouldn't totaly ruin the movie for us.
After reading all you said I have to say that I am kind of disapointed really It doesn't sound like the movie lives up to all I'd hoped it would be. Oh well I suppose I'll just have to see it for myself.

The thing is, the movie does stand on it's own.
The game is a great enhancement though.
Yeah, it was actually pretty good not having
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
slusho or tagruato
ever mentioned once in the movie. It'd be kinda unfair to the average movie goer.
Feel free if you have anymore questions, I'll be here all week haha.

I really wasn't disappointed, but you know, everyone's experience is different. See above reply too.

Southside,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That's the scene where Rob/Lil/Hud/Beth cross back over Beth's toppled roof to the still-standing building after rescuing her. This is the first F-16 attack on the monster, but not the helicopter scene. Although, there is a good view of the monster here.
I was watching TV tonight and I couldn't see the monster in any of the commercial scenes except for that one where it walks behind the building that everyone has seen.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Well, the thing about the movie is "nothing is really certain." We never know if the monster is contained or destroyed. However, we do know that Lil's helicopter does successfully leave the ground and fly off, but we don't know whether she lived or died. An optimist can assume she lived. It's debatable but I'm sure (well, I certainly hope) the game will continue after the movie in order to answer these questions

The black (ethnic?) one. I saw her on CSI once. She's jason's "assumed" girlfriend.

edit: did they give the monster a real name?
Just saw your edit,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No sorry, no name for the monster. They refer to it as a "thing" or they'll refer to the entire event ("Why is this happening?"). Hud, somewhat jokingly, speculates that the government is in on it, but claims he doesn't know anything since he stopped reading newspapers (it'll be funnier when you see it)

Yeah, she was pretty hot, I thought Marlena was hotter though.
ANYWAY,
I hate movie critics and reviews, but here are my OPINIONS (which will vary from person to person)
I'd give it a decent 8.8 out of 10.
Here's why:
The dynamics were fantastic. As in, the continuity of the camera (the vast majority of the scenes were one single shot, which in movies, is seriously hard to do).
The lack of music makes the movie much more "personal."
The sound was seriously impressive.
The idea of movie as a whole, rather than little scenes, which boils down to what it is: a movie about a group of friends trying to escape a devastating monster attack. And the effects of this event on a group of people. It carries over elements that are reminiscent of *cough* 9/11 *cough*
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For instance, Rob's mom calls him and they face the fact about Jason's death
No one knows what to do or how to deal.
It's just much more realistic in the sense that no one knows what's going on.
